His skeletons are endearing to his constituents though. The racists there absolutely love him.

A quick hop over to Wikipedia shows Arpaio underperforming Romney in 2012 and Trump in 2016. He actually lost his re-election in 2016, but to be fair, it looked like he was on his way to jail at the time. At 86, I think it's pretty clear that our chances are better against him than a generic Republican.
01-09-2018 , 01:58 PM
Is he even a lock to get the GOP nod?
01-09-2018 , 02:02 PM
gop is majority deplorable morons rn so yes

As of August, Trump's approval rating was only 42 percent in Arizona. He received 49% of the vote. So it wasn't really a blowout victory for him. With a high enough turnout in 2018, I don't think any Republican stands a chance in AZ.

@ScreaminAsian: It's hard to say though because Kelli Ward is also deplorable. And once Arpaio enters the race, you'll have a bunch of these imbeciles falling over themselves trying to prove their deplorable bona fides. The primary voters may decide they want someone who will, you know, actually be alive to serve a second term.

Arpaio is probably the best chance Ds have to be Arizona's Christine O'Donnell. GO JOE 2018 (in the primary)
01-09-2018 , 03:18 PM
ugh this is just too eerily familiar for me to cheer on arpaio

nope, not gonna do it
01-09-2018 , 03:24 PM
Luckily the damage that can be done from one seat in the US Senate is pretty tiny. If the choices are...
a.) 50-50 (just looking at this race in isolation obv)
b.) 51-49 with Kelli Ward, making the average majority member 89% evil
c.) 51-49 with Joe Arpaio, making the average majority member 90% evil

You don't want to root for a.) over b.) even if the price is a chance of c.) ?

"We should support those who are close to us when they are struggling," Bedke said. "Please remember Brandon's family in your prayers."

"Very saddened by the about news Rep. Hixon. I wish I had followed the promptings I received and called with words of kindness and encouragement," said Rep. Bryan Zollinger, R-Idaho Falls, in a tweet. "Reminder to us all to love one another despite differences of opinion."

"Still stunned and shocked. I didn't always agree with Rep. Hixon, but I could work with and talk to him," said Rep. John McCrostie, D-Boise, in a tweet. "That's seriously a big deal. Hope you find some peace, Brandon. Condolences and prayers to his family including his children."
****ing pathetic the way these people cape up for a pedophile. good riddance imo

North Carolina Congressional Map Ruled Unconstitutionally Gerrymandered
A panel of federal judges struck down North Carolina’s congressional map on Tuesday, declaring it unconstitutionally gerrymandered and demanding that the Republican-controlled General Assembly redraw district lines before this year’s midterm elections.

The ruling was the first time that a federal court had blocked a congressional map because the judges believed it to be a partisan gerrymander, and it deepened the political chaos that has enveloped North Carolina in recent years.

“We agree with plaintiffs that a wealth of evidence proves the General Assembly’s intent to ‘subordinate’ the interests of non-Republican voters and ‘entrench’ Republican domination of the state’s congressional delegation,” Judge James A. Wynn Jr. wrote in a 191-page opinion that another judge joined in full.

I don't know. How else could you draw district 12 so it's fair?

Man, I hope this is just one of a number of lawsuits that force states to redraw congressional districts.

Using a more powerful computer program, the Republicans can redraw the map, and get the same results.

Computer programs can do an amazing job of gerrymandering, just need to be tweaked a little so as not to be so obvious.

In which case the perpetrators should be jailed.

There are plenty of interesting articles on gerrymandering.

There are two gerrymandering cases at the US Supreme Court level.

To sum it up: If Kennedy oks it, the Democrats are dead, dead, dead !

Wisconsin does a heck of a job gerrymandering.

Hence Trump 2020
