No, he's doing what he always does, which is empty media stunts.

I will profile my wife's grandma for anyone interested in the contradictions inherent in these people's lives.

Sweet old Mexican Catholic lady who is super nice to everyone she meets but at the same time racist, xenophobic, etc. in her real beliefs and will say stuff like "slavery was so long ago why don't they get over it already?" Even though she grew up during Jim Crow.

Watches fox news at all times she isn't reading her bible. Donates to Arpaio, that conservative college in South Carolina, etc.

Main operating emotion is fear. The SF undocumented murder was a big one for her as is Muslim terrorists coming across the border and the general spectre of "Chicago" even though she lives in LA. Intelligence and rational thinking levels are low.

Undocumented persons is a big issue for her even though at least one of her parents was undocumented.

Loves to ask me and my wife questions about politics because "we are actually in the middle of this stuff" but then ignore our answer and WHATABOUT us with a totally different fox news topic.

Is convinced that everything was great when she was a child and everyone of different races and backgrounds in her neighborhood got along fine even though they didn't have much. All of the dissension and division in our country is basically a liberal conspiracy and if the NYT, LA Times, WaPo, etc would just leave people alone we could all be like Leave it to Beaver.

A major underlying theme with every Trump supporter I've run into. I mean it's one thing to be scared of something. Some things actually are scary.

But it is absolutely stunning how much mileage politicians have gotten out of 9/11. My family still bangs on about that happening again and how we have to do everything possible to stop it. If the government could justify anal rape as a means to stop terrorism at the border, I would have arrived in America with a bleeding ******* in 3 consecutive trips and not an inkling of empathy would be shown.

LOL I think your right which is sad. But on a bright side the private prison lobby would never allow that policy to be enacted as Homeland Security would probably have 90 % of US inmates released to the Border Patrol.

I agree with your point re: UKIP/GOP but you must agree that the average republican voter is getting systematically misled by the GOP/fox though, right?

The reason they fall for that kind of thing is probably somewhat complicated.

Re: Trump's America

You have to understand how your enemy operates in order to destroy them.

So I don't see anything wrong with exploring the minds of Trump supporters.

I do, however, take issue with groups like The Third Way who live in a delusional world where if all of us can get together we can work out our differences and live in a happy medium. They claim to seek understanding but are really seeking to confirm their bias. What's more bothersome is that they have the eyes and ears of Democratic strategists and their beliefs will only encourage Democrats to move to the right and extend an olive branch.

They are the consumer. They want to be mislead.

First off, no it ain't, you just don't like the answer.

Secondly, you personally fall for that kind of ****, man. Remember the whole "unfetttered free speech for racists at universities is a core American value" **** that the right wing invented in like 2015 and you swallowed uncritically?

I suppose that makes a lot of sense. like, its really rare to talk politics in america and it always has been. its even more rare to just start talking politics right off the bat without at least some sort of reason for the conversation to turn that way.

but that was the first thing asked by plenty of germans, or english,

Sacramento-area high school plagued by racism towards black students

Quote:
For more than three months, the 17-year-old says she has been battling with the school administration to address what she and others describe as a racist culture on the campus that makes the N-word a common occurrence and has left some black students uncomfortable.
Quote:
The first time she encountered it was in early September as she walked home alone from school. She said a truck filled with white classmates, mostly boys, drove by.

“I was just minding my business and then a car with a group of white kids sticks out their heads and calls me the N-word with a hard ‘r,’ zooms away, and I’m just there like, ‘Well what do I do?’ ” she said.
Quote:
Small nooses were found hanging from trees on campus, she said, adding that the security guards and other students described them to her.

A white student entered a classroom and yelled he wanted to “kill all the N-words,” she said, an incident she said she discussed with school administrators.

During an after-school altercation in the school parking lot, a white student allegedly urinated on the car of a black teen who did not attend the school, after calling him the N-word. Francois said the white teen remains at the school.

“I see him every day,” she said. “I don’t feel safe because all these kids are walking around and you don’t know what they are going to do next.”
This started getting more attention after a student posted a video that blew up in December where she says "black people are trash, they need to die" and "when the police were killing all those black people, I was so happy". Elk Grove seems like a nice place; in October a black-owned hair salon had a racist, threatening note left on the door

I don't live far from there. It's only about 2 hours from San Francisco where I grew up. It's notable that there is complete lack of exposure to it and belief that it is a phenomenon owned by the southern and flyover states that myself and most other Bay Area residents have been afforded by their bubble. I was certainly surprised when I moved out of the Bay.

What does this mean?

Take a hypothetical case where a psychologically normal person is forced to watch only right wing propaganda. You would agree that person would be more likely to buy into it, right?

Wouldn’t you also agree that there can be social pressures that could lead a psychologically normal person to expose themselves to right wing propaganda?

With that said, there are studies showing more contact with other races leads to less prejudice. That someone was born in a homogeneous town rather than a diverse city could come into play but, even given that, what value is there in just demonizing half the country?

Of course it is complicated.

I don’t want to go down this road but free speech is a core value. Racists should be able to speak on public colleges so long as they were invited etc.

The magnitude of the problem was just exaggerated by the right. From what I remember the people I had an issue with were those siding with the students threatening violence because Ann Coulter was coming on campus. (Which is insane)

If at any point I disagreed with people saying the scope of the problem was being blown out of proportion, I was wrong.

idk, it doesn't take long of driving outside the Bay Area to get a strong feeling you're in Trump Country. I guess if you just flew between SF/LA and didn't otherwise stray far you might remain oblivious.

I know a number of people from all age groups who claim they come in contact with no trump voters in the sf Bay Area. Obviously there are a lot of factors and it is probably false but it speaks to their exposure.

Well, there aren't that many; every Bay Area county came in under 25% for Trump, with Oakland's (Alameda) coming in at 15% and SF at 9%. Given that a.) people tend to choose their friends rather than have a random sample, and b.) if there's one place in the US you would probably know to shut the **** up about your Trump support, it's here - it shouldn't be that surprising for a Bay Area liberal to not know anyone that publicly supports Trump.

Speaking of silly valley

Quote:
Dhillon said Google shareholders will be “pretty shocked to find” that employees are spending their time “talking about furry sex clubs and toxic whiteness,” rather than doing their jobs.
the fired google dimwit who thinks women are biologically inferior to men apparently spent all day browsing their internal message boards looking for things to screenshot and use as evidence, as opposed to doing his actual job.

Stunning, then, that his lawyer would have the gall to spew the above nonsense.

We are in 100% agreement. That is why when you spend a good amount of years in that space even if you travel outside of it occasionally, but likely don't talk politics on those occasions much, it can be pretty surprising that situations such as those cited in Elk Grove are happening so close. It seems absurd when you are sheltered.

Like you want to have this ****ing discussion let's chat about how you so aggressively misinformed yourself about the Evergreen University day of absence "controversy" that you were(natch) in tears, again, at how the regressive left was doing anti-white racism. Wonder how and why campus activists became such a target of coverage, and why you were so eager to learn more. Let's have that ****ing conversation, if you want.

I won't even spoil the ending!

He did OK in a few county elections for Sheriff hugely because he pioneered the "County sheriff goes on Fox" model that a few other dip****s have done to achieve fame. It's actually a very wise political move, how many of you even know the name of the current sheriff in your county? But you all know the former Sheriff of Maricopa.

But man he's got some skeletons. He's Roy Moore without the teen dating(yet).
