huehue is correct. For most of these paramilitary dudes it is simply cosplay but you only need a few true zealots and pair them up with mainstream political bodies and pliable local authorities sympathetic to the play-acting tough guys and you've got 1920s Alabama on your hands fast.

Why? Einbart has probably already submitted 20 complaints about various 19th century socialists left out of the history curriculum. Some of the challenges are bound to be successful. Even if the hearing officers are Republicans now that isn't always going to be the case.

They won't go that far. But I grew up in Florida and while they aren't in the majority there are plenty of liberals there. (I wasn't one of them of course....) It was a pretty Democratic state until relatively recently, it will likely swing back at some point, even if only for a couple years. Then some of these laws will bite Republicans in the ass.

I think strong father figure/patriarchy is often listed as a feature. A return to presumed traditions is pretty key and strict gender roles is usually/always part of that.

There isn't a precisely agreed on definition though.
