Undocumented couple goes to visit their daughter's active duty family on a military base on July 4th; Army arrests them and turns them over to ICE

Quote:
Fort Drum Military Police called U.S. Border Patrol, which soon arrived to arrest the couple, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman said in a statement to The Washington Post.

Perla Silva was there with her 5-year-old daughter, who watched, weeping, as her grandparents were taken into ICE custody.
Related story mentioned in the article:

Quote:
In a similar instance just last month, a New York restaurant worker was detained by ICE after delivering pasta to Fort Hamilton, a small Army garrison in Brooklyn.

The Ecuadoran restaurant worker, Pablo Villavicencio, flashed his city ID card at the guard on duty, as he had done on several other occasions delivering orders there. But the guard said he needed a driver’s license. After a background check revealed an old ICE warrant against Villavicencio, military personnel called immigration officers, who arrested him.

I saw an interview with a North Korean soldier who had worked at the labor camps - where he saw stuff like people fighting over rats to eat. He said the first thing they teach you is you can't think of the inmates as human. Think of them as already dead basically.

As a Tampa native, I can attest to the fact that the sign guy is black and he has been staking out various locations (Home Depots, the courthouse, a downtown law office, etc.), as well as cruising the roads, for many, many years. The signs always contain some combination of swastikas, confederate flags, the n word, and whatever else, but nobody, including he, can say what his larger point is. The dots do not connect.

deporting grandparents is obviously horrible, but what a couple of ****ing idiots. i tried to meet my father in law for a round of golf at fort jackson military base in SC a few weeks back (like a ******) and when i stopped at the gate to show my ID to the MP there, he noticed my expired license plates/registration on my car, wrote me a citation/fine and told me to GTFO and not come back until it was fixed. wouldn't even let me in to play the round. how the **** you gonna try to go on a federal military base as an undocumented immigrant? their granddaughter or whoever it was they were visiting really should have been more explicit about the risks and the certainty with which they would be subjected to scrutiny/verification upon entering. unbelievable amount of fail on all sides in that one.

It looks like the master race is freerolling on harassing minorities as there doesn't seem to be an repercussions.
ID Adam wasn't really actively harassing the lady when the cop was there? As far as I can see, the cop just wanted to determine if the lady was or was not trespassing, and when she could open the gate with the key card he apologized for wasting her time and that she was confronted. What's he supposed to do?

"Hey Pool King, next time a lady and her kids are swimming while black call someone who cares. I got work to do."

Pool cop seemed pretty reasonable. Obviously(?) if the police are called for something, they need to show up, even if that thing turns out to be stupid. This seems like a fine way to end it:

Quote:
The officer is satisfied. “I apologize for the time and the altercation that occurred, okay?” the officer tells Abhulimen. She apologizes for the time the officers spent there.

Bloom, however, is not satisfied. “A form of ID would have been helpful to validate,” he says to the officer.

“It would be nice if you apologized,” Abhulimen shoots back.

The officer went over the same territory — that a key card was good enough for him.
This cop, on the other hand, should be fired immediately:

Don't worry, he stepped in when the scary brown man showed up. That's what we have cops for, right?

Dovetailing nicely with recent HOA discussion: Man forced to sell home, facing foreclosure after years of fines, from fighting with HOA about displaying the 'MURICAN FLAG

Quote:
People doing routine neighborhood checks for the Tides Condominium Association in Sweetwater, Fla., had taken notice of the “unauthorized object” on his front porch and demanded that he remove it. If he didn’t, the letter warned, he’d be fined $100 every day.

But the “unauthorized object” in question was a 17-inch American flag that he had placed in a flower pot. And Murphree, who says he spent half a dozen years as an air traffic controller in the Air Force, wasn’t budging.
Quote:
Thus began a saga that has consumed the past seven years of Murphree’s life and several hundred thousand dollars he had squirreled away to live in the retirement community.

Three years ago, it cost him his house.

He sold his home in the wake of mounting fees and a lien placed on it by the condominium association. Foreclosure was imminent, he said, and the ordeal had soured his desire to live in the community. Still, his stand has been costly and he was recently granted a court date for a trial, where he’ll try to recoup his lost money. He’s suing for $1 million.
Sounds like the classic OOT thread: everyone involved is a douche

I still hold that the pool cop should have stated something to #IDadam about not being a ****ing racist scumbag. I would have been satisfied that instead of the cop apologizing for wasting the lady's time that he had made #IDadam apologize to the lady for being a racist.
07-11-2018 , 05:09 PM
Yeah the thing to focus on right now is cops who are maybe too polite to passive aggressive pool racists.

And make ID Adam apologize? Or what? It isn't the cop's job to make sure ID Adam is a decent human being.

I witnessed an incident at this year's WSOP 6 max 3k plo. I have a friend that is a big Trump supporter, and was wearing a MAGA hat. I heard some commotion, and when I looked over, none other than Daniel Negreanu was asking my buddy if he 'wanted to go outside.' On the next break, I asked by friend what happened. Apparently they almost came to blows discussing the hat. As a disclaimer, I've only heard his side of the story. Also, I don't agree with my buddy politically at all, but outside of his political beliefs, I've always thought he was a good guy.

he was probably blaming immigrants for getting bad cards

Negreanu def doesn't seem like a "wanna take it outside" dude. Is your friend equally puny?

He's probably a bit bigger than Negreanu, but not huge or anything.

Hate crimes in California rise for third straight year

Quote:
According to an annual report from the state Department of Justice, released Monday, hate crimes reported by law enforcement agencies rose by 17.4 percent from 2016 to 2017. That follows double-digit increases in 2015 and 2016, after six years of steady decline.
HMM I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED IN 2015 THAT MIGHT BE RELATED
07-11-2018 , 06:44 PM
Doing so would've only redirected that idiot's anger on to the cop and potentially escalated the situation. Cops, in general, should not be in the habit of making things worse.
