Re: Trump Presidency Predictions Thread

Trump will encounter a health crisis, either real of manufactured giving him an out within the first two years of his tenure.

Probably depends on how you approach the job.

Re: Trump Presidency Predictions Thread

Very few major changes in policy. Trump will push ridiculous ideas and RINOs and Dems will fight him and think he's nuts. This will happen for a while because Trump doesn't know the meaning of the word compromise. He thinks he can do whatever he wants and that he can fire you if you don't listen to him and he will be his own worst enemy in that sense. We'll see the continued spread of the surveillance state and increased military spending. But then again we would have seen that under Hillary as well.

The social implications, however, are bad. Trump's election has taken the racism and bigotry that was once reserved for dinner table discussion with family and close friends and normalized it. It's a step back to the 1950's regarding the treatment of minorities. We may not necessarily see laws passed that repeal rights given to minorities but maltreatment of them will become socially acceptable and in some areas of America publicly encouraged. This will affect employment and housing opportunities for minorities in some states. So we may see decreases in income and employment for AA and Hispanics which obviously creates a breeding ground for an increase in criminal activity.

What scares me is how he'll deal with Russia. If he is serious about not upholding NATO, that's bad ****ing news for Europe and is genuinely frightening but I'm not sure enough people are going to follow him on that to make it happen.

Is Mike Pence better or worse than Donald Trump. I mean, Mike Pence with a democrat senate is obviously better than president Donald Trump. Mike Pence with both houses - how ****ed are we? We are so ****ing ****ed.

Anti-Trump protests are already happening around the country. People predicting that everything will settle down and stabilize are in for a rude surprise.

In some ways, he's worse. He knows how to play politics and knows how to compromise to get things done more effectively when compared to Trump. Trump is more likely to just be a moron running into a brick wall when proposing policy changes.

And although he does have racist and bigoted leanings like most Republicans, he doesn't appear to be the kind of person who would encourage violence against protesters and be a perpetuator of blatant racism that resembles the 1950's. He doesn't appear to be as reckless in foreign policy. So that's a bit better than Trump.

Also that whole thing about droning US citizens. Might want to walk that back before Trump takes the reigns.

24 hours ago we were hoping for HRC + Senate = SCOTUS + miracle shot at House. What a difference a day makes.

I've been fortunate enough to not have major tragedy in my life. This feels as bad as anything I can remember.

I guess the best case scenario is that we get a Berlusconi-style president who turns out to be a bumbling offensive clown but doesn't actually send the nation spiraling into a fascist dystopia.

Pretty much what I'm expecting.

Might start leading us in that direction, but not get there in 4 years.

Protesting the results of a free election is about what I'd expect from the SJW terrorists. Good luck winning over the rust belt coal miner in 2020 with this petulant crap, a rude awakening is coming indeed.

I guess the best case scenario is that the Trump armbands we're going to be required to wear will be made of a nice stretchy elastic for a comfy one-size-fits-all fit.

At what point will it be kind of cathartic, enjoyable to re-reread the game night thread and watch all the shookmeters dance around? I can't imagine it would take less than a decade.

Well it would definitely make more sense to protest a new/pending piece of legislation than it would be to protest a the results of a free election but what do I know.

It's just hilarious. And pathetic.

It's just terrifying.
I've been beating this drum all over the forum all day. I'm not sure how much longer it's going to take for the country as a whole to realize how disastrous this election is going to be for the country. Our president-elect's first 100 days are going to be met with massive worldwide protests, and he is going to try to crush them.

I don't care which side you agree with. It doesn't matter. If we can escape a Trump presidency with ONLY violent protests and even more violent suppression of them we will have dodged a bullet. There is absolutely no plausible story you can tell me for national stability in the near future.

Re: Trump Presidency Predictions Thread

Best case scenario: We get a center-right wing president who pursues tax cuts, gets rid of Obamacare and replaces it with something that functions similarly, does typical Republican stuff

Worst case scenario: Economy tanks, the post WW2 international order collapses, racial and ethnic tensions spike, Trump gets revenge on all his enemies, both domestic and foreign

Re: Trump Presidency Predictions Thread

Well apparently Trump has the full powers of the FBI and NSA in his back pocket. But luckily he's not the kind of vindictive person to go after his enemies like that.

It's just staggering to think of the number of genies that might be let out of the bottle with this. Actual vote rigging. Targeted takedowns of political enemies. Nuclear option.
