Re: Is the Trump Economy Good for Poker?

Insofar as the „Trump economy“ is a continuance of the economic growth of the „Obama economy“ there should also be growth for poker.
What I don’t understand is why Mason touts this as unprecedented growth opportunities and then seems to take that back by calling it an exaggeration.
That part just reads like „LOL, just trolling guys“. Perfect OP for the derail it got.

what is Trump doing to grow the economy exactly besides his huge tax cuts for the 1%? oh yeah, putting big business in charge of regulating the environment.

Well, what would you expect from a deplorable who falls for every GOP talking point? Mason is not a good dude.

Would also love a citation for an increase in salaries happening, from the same dude who was INCENSED at have to give his employees healthcare and is against a living minimum wage.
Mason, did you forget you're against all these things that would make people's lives better and give them much more disposable income? How do you square this?

Re: Is the Trump Economy Good for Poker?

Trump good for poker? Better citation needed. But Trumpkins are absolutely wonderful for the poker economy! I've been in Florida the past couple weeks. The poker is significantly easier than up north and my GOD the people here have some hot takes at the table. They love them some Trump. When I hear them babbling their Trump derp I get excited because it's the most reliable fish/moron tell ever. I never engage, I just kind of laugh on the inside while focusing on the equally retarded poker going on.

Some recent quotes from my tables:

Table 1:
Floridian #1: Lindsey Graham lacks credibility because I think he's a homosexual.
(A couple people nod and one is like yep, you got a point.)

Floridian #2: Politics is just a circus right now. Look at that freak show Chelsea Manning running in Maryland!

Floridian #3: I voted for Trump because ultimately, when it comes down to it, he's a man and men have to stick with men.

Table 2:
Me: I almost rear-ended someone at 60mph on my way here. Never seen so many cars with no tail lights or brake lights. Don't know how they pass inspection.
Floridian: There are no inspections in Florida because we don't need the government getting involved in our daily lives.
(Some other people chime in, adding to the derp crockpot.)

Table 3:
Northern tourist: Camden used to be a booming town but not anymore.
Floridian #1: Yeah, it went to **** as soon as the Dems took over.

Floridian #2: I was alive during the greatest presidency ever.
Me: You were around during Lincoln?
Floridian #2: No, silly, Ronald Reagan of course! But Lincoln was another good Re-pub-lic-an president.

Re: Is the Trump Economy Good for Poker?

if i were to start a gimmick account to troll mason while technically giving him positive responses but with the purpose of shocking moderate republicans into opening their eyes to what trumpism is, i wouldn't have gone as hard and as fast as IneedpaidFF. great job, really, you're confirming everything i believe about trump supporters.

mason, if you're reading this:
the hate people feel toward donald trump isn't baseless. he earns every bit of it, and it's frankly amazing that he's not hated way more. i don't blame you for advocating the government pay you millions of dollars with no expectations from you in return, but please recognize the people you're politically empowering are openly advocating ethnic cleansing on your book publication messageboard, and those same people want our mutual friend david sklansky to know that they know he's jewish and that they know where he lives, and that they're not above ****ing his **** up. donald trump empowers these racists and antisemites and that's why he's hated by many and loved by some. it's not the economy, stupid.

Mason,

Please let us know by which measurable metrics you will be gauging the effects of what you're calling the Trump economy on poker.

We can revisit this in a year, measure again, and see how it turned out.

Thanks

Re: Is the Trump Economy Good for Poker?

think about all the unnecessary regulations imposed on gambling book publishers. you can't even say your books will 100% guarantee financial success because DEMOCRATS want a court to decide if it's "criminally misleading". that's not up to them! that's up to me, the capitalist, rightful king to all americans.

So what’s our current prediction? And why do we feel this way?
Why do we even need to make predictions here? We're a year into the Trump economy, how is the poker world doing? I have no idea, but it seems like someone who's plugged into the poker industry like Mason could give the reader some insight about how online poker has done over the past 12 months. That would have actually been an interesting and useful thing for your audience to read about, and it would have been very easy to put together.

Re: Is the Trump Economy Good for Poker?

Mason is obsessed with external factors helping his income, which I understand. It must be difficult to think back on the poker boom and how 2p2, despite having incredibly high traffic and being a top poker website, managed to miss out on millions upon millions of dollars by focusing on occasional obscure and niche Sklansky $30 poker books instead of being an affiliate for the poker websites. Mason was ranting on "Obummer" while Cardplayer was literally drowning in FTP affiliate money. So Mason has a strong rejection of his own ability to bootstrap regardless of government, and he must rely on someone else to help him. Obviously, we all know Mason's not rich enough for Trump's policies to really help him, but he's bought into the cult of personality.

Rock on Mason. Liberals who are on life tilt and have more money are definitely good for the poker economy.

Beyond that, the "Trump Economy" is going to be whatever is the result of rampant deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthy. It will very likely lead to a big recession. Hopefully not, but it's likely.
It's not even that, the Trump tax cuts and such only make absolute temporary gains for their benefactors at the expense of hurting them 40 years down the road. Relatively they favour them permanently

40 years? no, the trump tax plan is gonna hurt ppl in 3-5 yrs. remember the increased exemption gets phased out while the elimination of deductions is gone for good.

I was referring more to the outliers (super rich) who are benefiting massively, their heirs will have much more relative power on a permanent basis barring revolution, but over a crappier society so it will take much longer for them to lose in absolute terms.

Its off the subject of the OP but your post gives me the opportunity to see how many of you agree with me that no more than a third of Democratic voters feel nearly as strongly as you do. The rest pretty much are:

The slightly empathetic/idealistic who would not go as far as 10%

Those who personally feel threatened by Republican policies who would change their mind if they thought it was to their benefit (regardless of how it affected others.)

Rich, often celebrity types, who realize how lucky they got to have their talent and be in the right place at the right time, especially in a country that tolerates extreme income inequality; who now feel a little guilty about it. But not to the point where they would even slightly give up their station in life to fix it. (Exception: Nicholas Kristoff in my opinion)

Other rich people who fear that not supporting Democrat policies just might turn them into Marie Antoinettes.

I have been saying similar stuff for quite a while. I wonder whether two recent events may force more of you to admit that I a right. I speak of the willingness of many anti Trumpers to move toward him based on the small bonuses being given out, And the large number of those who called themselves pro DACA but only if it didn't entail the mild inconvenience of a government shutdown.
