I quit/didn't renew a contract once because they required using Word. Eff that. Word has always been atrocious.

Agreed, WordPerfect has always been superior for legal writing, but everyone is migrating over to word these days.

I don't post here much but to be honest based on the full video (below) this account seems way more accurate than how it has generally been reported. The relevant part of the video is ~1:07 to 1:18 and shows that the hate preachers (apparently part of a group called "Black Israelites") started addressing the kids and the kids essentially responded by doing school sports chants. After a short while of that the Native Americans approached the kids and genuinely does look like they were joining in with what they thought was a cultural display. What actually happened after it had been going on for a while is not clear from the video but I certainly couldn't hear any chants about the wall.



Politically I'm left wing even by UK (let alone US) standards and think Trump/GOP are abhorrent but the way this situation has been reported is a ****ing disaster. In the "fake news" world it's vital that we hold ourselves to a higher standard and things like this give people something legitimate to reinforce the otherwise irrational notion that anything anti-trump is fake news. This forum is normally one of the better places I read when it comes to assessing things objectively but in this instance I think that while the school is probably pretty awful (the fact that they have a field trip to a pro-life rally is pretty ridiculous by itself), the specific kid(s) are being unfairly demonized.

Edit: I started writing this post before the Isildoyle derail, but I actually think his first paragraph specifically is why this reporting is so awful as it gives legitimacy to what is otherwise an objectively false claim.

To clarify, I don't for a minute think that the people involved aren't deplorables. The problem is that the media have been reporting things (e.g. that they chanted build a wall) that as far as I can tell there is no actual evidence for in order to further demonize them. It's fine to condemn them for things they actually did, but reporting falsities to make it appear even worse is terrible for the same kind of reasons that the Buzzfeed report is terrible if there isn't actually any hard evidence that Trump directly told Cohen to lie.
