Loollll, picture too good. I wonder how rapist Assange felt about being manhandled there.

Found video of the arrest. I'm guessing by the cat litter box story, and the way he let himself go, he's clinically depressed.

The overwhelming majority of people would get clinically depressed if they didn't go outside for seven years.

I did mention the very real possibility of depression a while ago when the cat litter story broke.

President Lenín Moreno of Ecuador said on Twitter that his country had taken the decision to revoke the asylum status that it had granted to Mr. Assange after “his repeated violations to international conventions and daily-life protocols,” a decision that cleared the way for the British authorities to detain him.

The Ecuadorean government said in March last year that it had cut off Mr. Assange’s internet access, saying that he had violated an agreement to stop commenting on, or trying to influence, the politics of other countries. The government also imposed other restrictions on him, limiting his visitors and requiring him to clean his bathroom and look after his cat.

Maybe don't go all-in on trying to get Trump elected then? Just a thought.

I guess he assumed the leopard wouldn't eat his face.

Do we know the extradition warrant is for publishing documents?

He was arrested by the Met (in public - there's even a video) and will be appearing in Westminster Magistrates Court

Not sure it's the publication so much as the theft. (Which isn't covered by free speech.) Anyway he's in court in about an hour so we might hear a bit more.

Wikileaks warned about it few days ago and now he got arrested hour or two ago for breaking bail in UK 7 years ago by entering in Ecuadorian Embassy.

Will he be extradited to U.S. and face long time in jail?
I believe I heard somewhere that his lawyers will try defend that he can't be extradited for political reasons.
I don't think it clear on what charged he would be extradited to U.S. yet.

Could be ponied but I'm on the side of the road broken down so I'm going to be lazy and just post it...

The American Taliban put a bill up in committee in the Texas state legislature to do a blanket ban on abortion and make it a capital offense so that the women who get abortions could be given the death penalty.

It won't get out of committee or become a law (<1% chance at least), but it's still their version of a mission statement or manifesto, and it's still appalling.

If the US has evidence to implicate him in the theft of documents (not just publication), he's in a bit of a fix.

The Swedes could complicate the picture, though. They've been taken by surprise and they haven't yet said if they'll re-file their own request (which they only dropped because there was no prospect of arresting him for the foreseeable), but the complainant's lawyer says she would like to pursue the case. Sweden could then argue an historic first claim, and if the British courts allowed that, the Americans might have to wait their turn.

The best bit of the election was when trump (because he's a know nothing moron) just took the anti abortion rhetoric to it's logical conclusion (obviously if abortion is murder we should punish the murderers) and all the anti abortionists went crazy 'no no we don't believe, that just punish the doctor'. Lol sure.

Claims are being made (not from disinterested sources) that some of those arresting him were observed in plain clothes earlier:

Well they'd better have proof Assange helped steal the documents. Greenwald is terrible and Assange is a thousand times worse but the rule law applies to everyone or it's not the rule of law. Let's see what they have.
