This makes me very angry at racist bastards like VarianceMineField who propagate racism against Muslims and Arabs and thinks the Nazis he's partying with don't want him in the gas chamber. With freedom of religion and respect for due process being absolutely critical to being an American and the lessons Jews should all have learned about vilifying minority groups it's mind boggling that an American Jew can be a Trumpkin. I know it's a bit regressive and tribal for me to think my tribe shouldn't contain such aholes, but that's the way it is.

Well, every Jew knows that stereotype isn't true. There are smart and not as smart people in my family, but there are no Trumpkins as far as I know.

I honestly had no idea anti-Semitism was alive and well in America in 2017. I've heard plenty of untoward **** directed towards various minority groups, but I can't remember the last time I heard someone say something about derogatory about Jews.

Look at hate crime statistics. There have been some deadly incidents like this:

2014 - 3 people killed at a Jewish community center in Kansas

Post-holocaust a lot of Jews have been very adamant that there will be no tolerance for antisemitism and even a small minority can have a big impact if they stick together. So in anything close to polite society people keep their antisemitism to themselves. But, I take it absolutely for granted that every white Christian American bigot hates Jews even if they think Jews need to rule Israel in preparation for the second coming.

I will say that I certainly took no offense. Unlike blacks, Hispanics, women and Muslims, Jews in modern day American have been hated by impotent racist morons more than oppressed by the powerful, so it's not so obvious. Aren't the Evangelical right massive supporters of Jews, and especially Israel, which makes them bizarre bedfellows with the Neo Nazi right.

As an outsider (i.e. non American) your Republican party just seems like a hodgepodge of dumb groups, whose only common factor is a love of irrational fear and hatred.

The Christian right in America aren't supportive of Jews per se, but rather the idea of Israel as their homeland. As Microbet alluded to earlier they are getting ready for Armageddon.

The Republican party *is* a hodgepodge a dummies. What unites them is their opposition to various planks of the Democratic agenda.

Also please remember than ~half of eligible voters did not take part in our last election. The results rarely reflect the will of the people only the will of the most dedicated (and accommodated) voters.
