On Tuesday, November 15, a week after Donald Trump's election as the next president of the United States, and on the day that Trump had*selected*Steve Bannon to be his strategic adviser, I came home to a letter addressed to me personally, at my home.

The envelope contained four pages' worth of anti-Semitic propaganda printed on three sheets of paper.

That's not the first time a story like that has been put forth. Also, no major news networks are carrying it. So fake news on FB is the most likely case.

I guarantee that fake news on FB made enough of a difference to swing this election to Trump, and I'm not joking. We need a way to combat this, and I don't know what it is. The truth isn't working. When people are confronted with the facts, they tend to either disengage and post three OTHER fake stories (which they believe, of course), or they pivot to something like e-mails or Benghazi (and there will always be another e-mails or Benghazi), and post a few stories on that.

The "moderate" conservatives who voted for Trump but refuse to believe he's a bigot are calling the spike in hate crimes a false flag operation by the left.

Is empathy dead? Is common sense extinct?

Shelby County leaders are investigating after an official posted a controversial statement on his Facebook page.

David Barber, the deputy director of Shelby County Department of Corrections, shared two posts on Facebook, each criticizing President Barack Obama. A WMC Action News 5 viewer sent the posts to our newsroom.

One post called the president “Obummer” and the first lady “Mooshell.” The author wrote he hopes they are killed in an Arabic country. The other post compared the KKK to the president, saying the white supremacist group was more American than Obama.

People on here like pokerbobo who immediately call everything fake except for attacks on Trump supporters are akin to Holocauat deniers, imo. I've championed the flow of information as the reason that something like that won't happen again but when like half of the population will just handwave away anything not posted on Drudge, I'm less confident of my views.

Tim Adams,*the protester who was tackled inside the Ohio Union during a Monday night rally protesting President-elect Donald Trump, announced on Tuesday that he is seeking to drop the charges of assault filed against Shane Michael Stanton, the student who tackled him.

In a public Facebook post, Adams said the decision came after “it was clear that my assault was not politically motivated in the way that we previously thought, nor was it committed by a Trump supporter.”

Adams, a lead organizer with International Socialist Organization-Columbus, was delivering a speech on the steps leading to the second floor of the Union on Monday night to a crowd of protesters when Stanton descended the steps behind Adams’ back, shoving him and knocking him down.

Stanton’s mother confirmed to The Columbus Dispatch on Tuesday evening that her son has Asperger Syndrome,*a developmental condition on the higher-functioning end of the autism spectrum.*People with Asperger Syndrome often struggle with social, sensory and communication skills. Friends of Stanton told The Lantern late Monday evening that his condition might have been a factor in his actions.

"I dunno, some of the conservatives like Renodoc are pretty robusto."

Renodoc isn't conservative in the current sense - I'm comfortable saying that because I know him. As far as I can tell, he's more of a small govt. guy - to a greater degree than me, but similar.

Speaking for myself only, I'm old enough to remember when the GOP was actually the small gov, stay out of people's lives party. Those days are lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng gone....

AFAIK he's pretty robusto - again, to a greater degree than me.

BYN rolling in here with obvious horse**** directly from his Facebook then acting like he in no way has any responsibility for the veracity of the post is just really swell.

I'm sure this happened exactly as he said and that he hasn't left anything out.

A West Virginia mayor resigned Tuesday after expressing support for a Facebook post referring to first lady Michelle Obama as an "ape in heels."

The town council in Clay, W.Va., accepted Mayor Beverly Whaling's resignation in a meeting Tuesday afternoon, according to The Associated Press.

The Facebook post, originally written by Clay County Development Corp. director Pamela Taylor, stated, "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing a Ape in heels."

Soon after the status was published, Whaling expressed support for the comparison, commenting, "Just made my day Pam."

According to WSAZ, both Whaling and Taylor have come under heavy criticism since making the post, with nearly 1,500 people demanding their resignation via a petition.

Whaling apologized in a statement Monday to The Washington Post.

“My comment was not intended to be racist at all. I was referring to my day being made for change in the White House! I am truly sorry for any hard feeling this may have caused! Those who know me know that I’m not of any way racist!" she said.

Denialism is a big part of allowing racial terror and fascism to take hold. In fact, the worse the atrocities get, the more important it will be for the fascists to maintain a solid ground of denial. Trump will be very good at this part of fascism.

I dunno, I think hobbes is right. "Conservative" has become a very fluid thing depending on who they nominate for President. 4 years ago it was free market capitalism, now it's tariffs and protectionism, maybe 8 years from now they'll be communists. I'm willing to buy that renodoc is still a Ron Paul guy at heart.
