The Tragic Death of Trayvon Martin: George Zimmerman, Responsible Gun Owner The Tragic Death of Trayvon Martin: George Zimmerman, Responsible Gun Owner

The way I read it you can side with both. You can want them to write the laws to make it fine to keep the ones already up as they are now while putting some sort of restriction in place around the observatories (or making it so the state law doesn't trump local ordinances).

Too bad they gave Zimmerman the opportunity to get rid of evidence in the mean time.

What is the expletive before "They always get away?" Ive assumed it was the 5 letter version of the n-word ending -as instead of -ers but ive not seen an uncensored version and it doesnt make a lot of sense it would be that thinking about it.

Unless the cops are ridiculously incompetent, which is possible, all the key evidence they would need is already recorded and stored somewhere. The facts and timeline arent really in dispute either due to the call recording which helps.

His house wasn't searched afaik, he wasn't tested for drugs, etc.
03-20-2012 , 12:17 PM
Thats pretty ridiculous.

One of his black neighbours should shoot him in self defence when they next see him.
03-20-2012 , 12:33 PM
There's a black militia out of Georgia that claims they are actively looking for him to put him under citizen's arrest. Evidently they're not too worried that it would be illegal, and most likely charged as kidnapping, under Florida law. That or they're just looking for some press coverage.

IKES WAS RIGHT, SOMETHING DID HAPPEN BEFORE HE WAS KILLED!

Meh, chase him around, corner him, and if he resists shoot him and claim self defense. Easy game.

I used to keep this BB gun that looked like a handgun in my car for safety. More of toy BB gun because it took plastic BBs. Wasn't even loaded, just thought one day I might need something that looked like a gun.

It looked so real, one day I was pulled over and a cop saw it sitting on the back seat and he called to his partner, "HE'S GOT A GUN," and then put his hands on his gun, looking like he's about to pull it out. I frantically explained it was a plastic BB gun. He didn't even ask to see it, he just took my explanation at face value, gave me a warning for whatever he stopped me for, and let me go. No idea why no follow up on the screaming and getting his gun ready.

I only posted that as a cool story bro, but it can also double as as a counterexample to your picture. That BB gun didn't have any wacky colors. Looked like a silver handgun.

I think the orange tips stuff is mandated by law in most states.
03-20-2012 , 01:53 PM
It's federal law that does that.

OK I'm with you on that part. So why all the handwringing over a perfectly sensible unrelated self defense statute?
03-20-2012 , 02:05 PM
I don't think 'stand your ground' type laws that let you kill someone you think may, possibly, perhaps, be about to commit a crime is a 'perfectly sensible self defense statute' because it is exactly what is allowing this guy to be out walking about freely after murdering a kid he chased down and then claimed 'self defense' over.

Felonious Assault in Iowa is a Class D felony (same as third offense OWI and incest fwiw), the lowest you can get. Why would I want the penalty for that to go from 5 years in prison to death?

yeah well since what we are talking about doesn't do that at all WTF are talking about?

claiming self defense != it was self defense, legally or morally. And the police going along with his claim in order to build a case != letting him go free.

The incident happened with no real witnesses. Probably not this one but 99.9999999% defensive shootings like this are justified, how would you rather the cops proceed?

For the bolded: The Iowa law specifically does that so I'm not sure what you're talking about if it's not that.

It might be in the other thread that was started on the law but the fact that prosecutors often don't even bother bringing charges or going to a hearing (which would make them prove they were actually acting in self defense) is a big big problem with how the law is written/handled IMO.

I don't know where you got the 'going along with his claim in order to build a case' stuff. They went along with it because they weren't going to arrest him and just let it drop.
