This Verrit thing reeks of partisans playing political games. If it has an effect on anything, it will be because it backfires.
an "unknown" 74 year old socialist who refused to be called a democrat for 30 years all of sudden wanted the endorsement of at least some dnc leadership and pouted when he LOST the primaries in every way possible. he also tacitly accepted the benefit of clinton conspiracy theories circulated on twitter, not to mention by wikileaks. oh, and 20% of his supporters didn't show for her anyway.
there are a bunch of things that backfired during and since the campaign. one thing was the simple existence of thousands of memeable quotes from all candidates that are simply fake. yeah, someone got some money to maybe work on that problem and this is what they came up with. big ****ing deal. by the way, field polls and focus groups are a necessity these days, although i understand how you feel dirty that our party engages in them.

yes, it may be turn out to be stupid, but if you think the same type of people who are fooled by fake quotes are savvy enough to figure out QR codes, you are mistaken.
