The democrats need to perform a full exorcism of both Clintons. It's a major problem when you're on stage with one of the most deeply unethical and horrible individuals to ever run for President and can barely mention his behaviour because of your own history.

If Hilary wanted what was best for the party she would realise she's just endless ammunition for Trump and step aside completely. I doubt it'll happen but we'll see.

Becky is a Nazi. Sklansky is fingering around per Mason's requests to see if the forum should remain up and running. They're different.

Lol
People really get their rocks off praying they will have Clinton material to write for the next decade huh. I’m sure we will get hundreds of these articles incredibly insightful articles sourced to offhand remarks from dumbasses like mark penn or Adam parkhenko or Ben Rhodes for the next few months

Beto isn't really a leftist. He held a lot of centrist positions such as being against UHC and recently showing support for Israel.

I would prefer Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

While i agree that theres way too much "support the aca" meow chow on his website (and im def less thrilled about him now than i was weeks ago), this is the last bullet point on the issue-

Quote:
Achieving universal healthcare coverage— whether it be through a single payer system, a dual system, or otherwise – so that we can ensure everyone is able to see a provider when it will do the most good and will deliver healthcare in the most affordable, effective way possible.
Being "against uhc" is a pretty blatent mischaracterization of his position tho

Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is calling close allies and informing them he is not running for president in 2020, sources close to the governor tell POLITICO.

Patrick informed staff and advisers of his decision Tuesday, the sources say, with an announcement to come as soon as this week.
Whew

Yes, and whether or not junk food contributes significantly in the specific case of overall health care costs (it at least is making some people less healthy), addictive junk food is as prolific as it is in the first place because of profit/capitalism. All goes back to that.

(Feel dumb even writing this because it's so obvious.)

Current Affairs: Why is the Center for American Progress betraying the left?

On a shady $200,000 donation CAP made to the American Enterprise Institute, a right-wing think tank that houses Charles Murray:

Quote:
What is clear is that the CAP feels closer to Charles Murray than to Bernie Sanders, which reaffirms an important lesson that every leftist should be aware of: many centrists, even supposedly “liberal” or “progressive” ones, would prefer neoconservative governments to leftist ones. Barack Obama felt closer to Theresa May than Corbyn’s Labour (Obama’s 2012 campaign manager Jim Messina even actively worked to help Tory David Cameron beat the Labour Party in 2015). The Clintons and Obamas seem to have warmer feelings about George W. Bush than Bernie Sanders.

Clara Jeffery is the editor of Mother Jones and seems to be on that Neera Tanden radical centrism ****:

Yes, Claire/Clara, tell us more about how well you know the secret to holding down Dem power nationwide as you...*checks notes*...go racist-lite to try to save your ass and still lose by 6

I would crawl through broken glass to vote for Mccaskill over Hawley and volunteered for her but she is showing her ass in a major way now. She made the correct vote on Kav and I thought it was possible she was just so centrist because of our ****hole state but nope she is just a person with ****ty politics who luckboxed Akin. Her bull**** is immediately countered by Kander running much more to the left and doing better vs an incumbent republican in 2016 in a much worse environment on the same day Trump crushed Hillary in Missouri. Missouri voters voted for a minimum wage hike and crushed right to work in 2018. Progressive policies are not automatic turn offs. They poll better than Republican ones across the board! That doesn’t mean people won’t reflexively vote for the R but it’s not some death sentence.

Her and Donnelly are just embarrassments. No shame in losing in a red state but there is shame in having the gall to act like some rural whisperer without a shred of evidence you know to win voters more than someone like Kander. Even more of a shame to actually believe personally in the migrant caravan hysteria. I will give mccaskill credit for running a tireless campaign and literally having town halls every day in rural areas where she is hated but that experiment failed. It didn’t work. Now it’s time to shut up and sit down you have no claim to knowing how to win. Say what you will about Manchin who is clearly worse than Mccaskill substantively but you can’t argue with his electoral success and that matters. I really really ****ing hope Kander runs again if he gets over his PTSD issues

How a little-known Democratic firm cashed in on the wave of midterm money

Quote:
The solicitations piled into voters’ email accounts — sometimes multiple times a day. And they carried alarming messages, often in blaring capital letters.

“We’re on the verge of BANKRUPTCY.”

“Our bank account is ALMOST EMPTY!”

“Trump is INCHES away from firing Robert Mueller.”

The catastrophic language yielded a fundraising bonanza for clients of Mothership Strategies, a little-known and relatively new digital consulting firm that raked in tens of millions of dollars from a tide of small donations that flowed to Democrats during the 2018 midterm elections.

...

“This is a unique moment in American history. The urgency in our emails, the volume of our emails, reflect that,” said Jake Lipsett, 25, during an interview at the firm’s sleek offices near the District’s Columbia Heights neighborhood. Seated next to him was his 2-year-old Goldendoodle, C.J. Cregg, named after the White House press secretary in the television political drama “The West Wing.”
Quote:
Another factor that has contributed to Mothership’s financial success: It drew substantial business last cycle from companies run by friends.

About a quarter of the payments that flowed to Mothership during the midterm elections came not from campaigns, but from political entities run by operatives with whom the Mothership founders have personal and professional ties, according to public records.

The three groups — End Citizens United, Progressive Turnout Project and National Democratic Training Committee — together paid more than $9 million to Mothership, records show. Officials with all three groups previously worked with Starnes on past campaigns for Rep. Bradley Schneider (D-Ill.). In addition, in 2018, Lipsett married the political director of End Citizens United, which has been a Mothership client for several years.

The Silent Majority of Democratic House Freshmen

Quote:
Ben McAdams, the former Salt Lake County mayor who was elected by one of the most conservative Democratic-held districts in a squeaker, is a Medicare-for-all skeptic. People should have a little skin in the game, he said. If health care is free, then people might use more health care, which drives up costs. He wants moderate voices to have a place in the debate, saying: “Congress should be a free market of ideas.”
With Mitt Romney Wannabees like this, I think this thread will continue for a loooong time.

He's also calling for Dems to cave and end the shutdown, might as well have a Repube in that seat

The value lost here isn't just in the vote, it's really in the messaging point he's giving Republicans to say that a Dem says it's Dems fault now and they should just cave.

Dem rep Omar keeps stepping in it. Her latest plastic moment came last night when she tweeted more lies about the Covington Catholic boys. She deleted the tweet shortly afterwards, and the law firm representing the kids responded saying "This is libel".
01-23-2019 , 03:28 PM
Lol autocorrect, meant loltastic not plastic
01-23-2019 , 03:41 PM
What were the lies?
01-23-2019 , 03:50 PM
Apparently she wrote, according to Fox News:

Quote:
The boys were protesting a woman's right to choose & yelled 'it's not rape if you enjoy it' ... They were taunting 5 Black men before they surrounded Phillips and led racist chants ... Sandmann's family hired a right wing PR firm to write his non-apology.
Protesting a woman's right to choose: true
Yelled "It's not rape if you enjoy it": maybe? I had to search for more info on this, and there is video of the kids in which you can unquestionably hear (but don't see) a voice that sounds like a young white dude yell "it's not rape if you enjoy it"
Taunting 5 black men: not a lie but also a dishonest framing
Sandmann's family hired a right-wing PR firm: I can't imagine this not being true

I give Omar 1 pinnochio out of 4 along with a hearty LOL beastmode for being an aggrieved snowflake

The owner of the PR firm is a CNN contributor and of course Jake Tapper was one of the first people to spread the statement that was supposedly written by a teenager but most likely was written by the PR firm that was hired.

Also I find it wild that the parents decided to hire a ****ing PR firm for this situation

Black israelite guys: Hey you fa&&ots! Hey you incest babies. Hey you future school shooters. Hey you crackers who are gonna cut out the organs of the one [black kid] in your school!

HS kids: [do school chants. nothing racist]

Omar: Won't someone think of the poor black men who were taunted by those kids!

Goofy: "Dishonest framing."

hahahaha ok!

I will give Omar, credit, though. Few have had the moral courage or galaxy brain to defend the black israelites as the tauntees!

srsly, though, goofy, why do you think she deleted her tweet overnight. was it b/c it had 1 pinocchio?

if your kids had celebrities, journos and blue checkmarks on twitter calling for their expulsion, calling for colleges to not accept them, calling for them to be doxxed, calling for people to smear, punch, beat, shoot and murder them.....you wouldn't want legal advice / PR representation?
