Is there a sexual harassment conversation to be had? Is there a sexual harassment conversation to be had?

Consider how much those attitudes have already changed over the last 100 years.

Honestly I have no idea how much those attitudes have changed over the last 100 years. But even granting that they have (and I'm not saying they haven't), that doesn't exactly answer the questions of "what changes are you looking for?" and "how are you expecting to make those changes happen?"

"You probably shouldn't date your coworkers" is generally decent advice, if a bit lacking in nuance. The people saying "we should make it societally unacceptable to date coworkers" are ridiculous.

Trump's comments were disgusting.

Harvey Weinstein's actions were awful.

I don't believe that Meryl Streep didn't know about Harvey Weinstein and the culture of predators in Hollywood.

Well then I expect you never did and never will vote for any of them for President.

You just downplayed it as "locker room talk" like two posts ago!

Even over th last few decades.

the 'people don't change' line, let alone the 'attitudes don't change' line is fortunately bollocks.

I mean, no idea? Like, couldn't begin to so much as guess? C'mon dude, I'm not going to write a potted history of the twentieth century for you.

How to bring about those changes is a fair question, though. Unfortunately, the answer is mostly "relentless, generally quite humourless societal pressure" - call-outs, call-ins, general condemnation, demonstration and approbation of desirable alternative attitudes and behaviours, reprobation and punishment of undesirable attitudes and behaviours, etc.

Locker room talk can't be disgusting?

I have heard as bad at the poker table over the past two months as what Trump said on that Access Hollywood tape.
10-31-2017 , 07:38 PM
WEll, probably not that bad. The imagery with his small greasy hands and fat body is disturbing, but Hollywood has a real issue going on.

Been going on for several years and no whistle blowers. They are hypocrites.
10-31-2017 , 07:40 PM
Sure, Hollywood is full of hypocrites, I don't give a **** about Hollywood and I didn't vote for any Hollywood members for political office. But you voted for Trump anyway because you are a ****ing hypocrite.
10-31-2017 , 07:41 PM
And, maybe House of Cards ran its course (I don't watch the show) and maybe they were going to cancel anyway, but to cancel the show over a single (seemingly reliable) allegation, they shut it down?

Guessing there will be more shoes to drop on Kevin Spacey.

Anthony Rapp has been in movies a very long time. Was one of Russell Crowe's classmates in "A BEAUTIFUL MIND", was in Dazed and Confused.

This is not Corey Feldman (who may still be proven correct), but a highly credible witness.

You don't know who I voted for or why.

Hillary was a great enabler of a sexual abuser.

This is now an issue to you and you are a proud Hillary voter?

Good grief!
10-31-2017 , 07:43 PM
Spacey more or less admitted it happened.

"You don't know who I voted for or why" LOL

You voted for someone who bragged on tape about sexual assault and pretend to care about harassment, shut the **** up

Trumps talk was about his awful actions.

Bill CLinton literally sexually assaulted women and Hillary Clinton discredited them.
10-31-2017 , 07:50 PM
And how would you think I wouldn't have voted for Gary Johnson?

Some of us voted for Gary Johnson and Jill Stein.
10-31-2017 , 07:53 PM
Because you're on this site defending Donald Trump. You're invested in being here and supporting him and turning "bragging about sexual assault" into "locker room talk" just like someone who cared about harassment totally would.
10-31-2017 , 07:56 PM
Nah. Just double standard.

I am a Rand Paul Republican.

Lots of issues against his policies.

And, you know, get me a credible accusation against Trump. There are four credible allegations against Bill Clinton.
10-31-2017 , 07:56 PM
Both Hollywood and Washington (and everywhere humans live) are overflowing with hypocrites. We are seeing a pivot point in Hollywood where gross sexual misconduct is ending careers, finally. Interestingly we saw a pivot point in Washington a year ago where taped admissions of same didn't slow the accent of the conservative family values candidate. It's two decidedly different directions. Don't know what's being called out exactly.

And, would much rather talk to you about Limit Omaha Hi Low strategies, so, if you care to post there, happy to impart knowledge!
