Just for kicks, here's the actual audio:

His description of Netflix is awesome. Also "my staff sent me an internet". Gold Jerry, gold.

A prison isn't like a dump truck, it's a series of cells.

(I stole this cause I thought it was funny)

Is this seriously a legit possibility iyo?

he's 84, a Republican, a lawmaker, and pardons are an unchecked Presidential power

it's not the lock that a full Scooter Libby pardon is, but I'd still give 2:1 odds

I don't know, Bush does have his popularity, legacy, and good-standing with the American people to consider.

I hope he does get pardoned, I'd much rather the republicans get another black eye than this guy do time, he's 84 and ruined.

Yeah, this is kinda the way I was thinking of it. I guess I figured there'd be more internal pressure from within the party not to look like total corrupt *******s.

One down I guess.

edit: if he doesn't go to federal-pound-me-in-the-ass prison I'm going to be pretty disappointed.

I think Slashdot got this one right:

Prison, it's not like a big building, it's more like a series of cubes.

I'm in for $100.

actually scratch that, I didn't think this all the way through. I don't think he's getting a full pardon if it's possible to commute a verdict before sentencing (no idea, ask a constitutional scholar.)

but some kind of not going to jail relief has to be > 50/50

(not betting on it cause I don't feel like doing research to support my totally unsupported assertion sry)

I don't think that he would go to jail even if there is no pardon or commutation.

Without it he is *definitely* going to jail. Judges handing out suspended sentences for white collar crimes went out the window with Enron.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing technically illegal about a convicted felon being elected to congress, or even serving his term from prison.
10-27-2008 , 08:01 PM
Yep. But he'd have to get work-release to attend sessions I'd presume. Bureau of Prisons said they wouldn't have let Traficant had he been reelected.
10-27-2008 , 08:16 PM
as kos points out, he can no longer vote for himself
