Isn't this backwards. Obviously paranoia about Islamofascism is ridiculous, but it's at least sort of consistent how you might hate Muslims if they were trying to impose sharia. Hating Muslims because Mohammed did a 9-year-old is basically pure bigotry.

Geez you people. Don't make me start extracting posts and shipping them to RGT.

You obviously do not believe in teh pedobears of yore for some strange reason.
More total c*bblers. You prejudiced types just never stop do you ? Aren't you going to claim that Joseph married Mary when she was twelve and he was ninety whilst you're at it ? Of course not you're only prejudiced against Muslims.

"While the Western Christian churches may not accept these accounts as authentic, the Eastern churches in Europe do accept that Mary was 12 years old and Joseph a widower 90 years old when they married"

Way, way, way too much stock gets put into polling "data" in these kinds of discussions. These kinds of polls are a JOKE.

What kinds of people: 1. Still have a land line? 2. Don't have caller ID? 3. Answer the phone? 4. Spend five minutes answering dumb questions?

Answer: losers. More specifically, older people and/or those with uninteresting lives. Its not exactly the smart, thoughtful members of society responding to these polls.

In addition, does anyone really think people take these polls super-seriously and answer super-thoughtfully?

Bill Maher likes to quote poll data like, "45% of conservatives think Obama is the anti-Christ." Do you really think they REALLY believe that? If I put a gun to their head, and said, "ill kill you if you're wrong, ill give you a million dollars if you're right, is Obama the anti-Christ?" do you seriously think 45% would say "yup, he is"? Of course not. They're bored at home, they don't like Obama, the poller asks some ridiculous question, so they laugh and say, "uh, yea sure, he IS the anti-Christ".

Then consider who is doing the polling. What kind of organization asks the Obama/anti-Christ question? Left-wing groups who know they can make conservatives look bad by feeding loaded questions to a certain audience. Go to a Ravens game and ask 100 drunk Ravens fans if Ben Roethlisberger is a pedophile. I bet 30 or 40 say yes, at least.

Add it all up and these polls are useless.

Tl;dr: polls should never be used to "prove" anything in these kinds if discussions.

Well, if I was a bigoted numbnut I would go with the route that pisses off the most amount of people. Saying you hate extremism Muslims and the religion is teaching people Sharia law might get you a pass for being offbased and ignorant. But telling people their Prophet is a pedobear would spread the maximum amount of anger and fury. And for a bonus you could even claim that you aren't bigoted towards Islam per se, but an antitheist who views all religions are ridiculous based on their religious texts.

Not saying such things are right. Just if you are going to be a hater... go all out...

You are just not very good at reading.

The two of you are debating past each other. On a stupid topic. You should not do that.
05-24-2013 , 01:25 PM
You of all people should not try and tell people how to debate on stupid subjects.

His home country is England. From what I understand he was born and raised there.

That would do it.

Yep, and the questions that people ask should be kept to those that don't offend.

People can ask whatever questions they want, what they can't do, is expect to be respected when they ask ridiculous or ******ed questions.
05-24-2013 , 04:03 PM
because the way you fix ignorance is making fun and insults not education.....this forum is teaching me alot and im lurking more than post but jc guys civility dosent make you a pussy. also if saying ignorant things is his "troll tactic" then fine flame away. if not you should all feel very big showing youre too smart and enlightened to waste your time answering an honest question

I'm just saying all the ages are a bit dodgy. If we are to believe the religious texts Joseph knocked out a couple of nippers in his nineties !

No fear guys. EDL is on it.

So far we've had at least 4 attacks on mosques (one of them including a grenade, another including a petrol bomb), many more people assaulted or verbally abused, and a ****load of serious postings online (ironically enough the news websites posting this story wouldn't accept comments-I wonder why).

Good response people, that's the way to do it, respond to a hateful barbaric attack with hate and violence.

Its the normal nutters and they aren't very bright. Same sort of people who attack a pediatrician.

There are a lot of people, a very tiny proportion of nutters means a largish number of incidents but we mustn't confuse that for a significant number of incidents.

The incidents arent that significant or worrying, the overall mood in the country and tone of the media reports are very worrying.

The Sun, Telegraph and Mail are all right now reporting on a police man being stabbed (but not killed) in France by someone of North African origin in something that may or may not have been a copycat attack. Is that something you'd usually see on the front page? Like I said, it's all looking bleak.

Possibly related, maybe not:

French Soldier Stabbed In The Neck In Paris

Quote:
PARIS (Reuters) - A French soldier patrolling a business neighborhood west of Paris was stabbed in the neck and injured on Saturday by a man who fled the scene and is being sought by police, President Francois Hollande said.

The 23-year-old was patrolling in uniform with two other soldiers as part of France's Vigipirate anti-terror surveillance plan when he was approached from behind around 6 p.m. and attacked with a knife or a box-cutter.
05-25-2013 , 04:48 PM
Ugh, Telegraph went down in my opinion. Sun and Mail cannot sink lower.
05-25-2013 , 05:26 PM
Am I missing something here?

What's wrong with the reports?
05-25-2013 , 05:51 PM
The intention behind them and the timing. This sort of thing happens yet usually it wouldn't make the news, those three newspapers are known for stoking xenophobic and anti immigrant flames and they are using this story to push the high levels of anti-muslim bigotry and racial tension even further. All of the stories I've seen on the topic have disabled the comment sections (legal issues) which they only do when they expect serious controversy, a sign that they know how the public will react and are doing it for a reason.

Also, contrast this with the fact that the wave of anti-muslim attacks (including petrol bombs and a grenade) haven't been reported at all at these very same sources yet are front page news at the BBC, it tells you something.

Fortunately in the UK we dont have to worry about stuff like this because we all died of mad cow disease. Or was it bird flu or dangerous dogs or terrorists or racists or ... No its all just people being over-dramatic and enjoying a bit of neurosis.

My god someone in France now! were all doomed again.
