Sessions' Senate Session Sweat Sessions' Senate Session Sweat

06-10-2017 , 08:17 PM
Tuesday morning. He was supposed to go in front of a different committee (House Oversight or Judicial I think) but Rosenstein is taking his place and Sessions switched to the Senate.

Is he ****ed or is he clean?
06-10-2017 , 08:53 PM
by clean I can only assume you mean "didn't do anything worse than the rest of them so nothing will happen"

reportedly by wapo the session is closed so lol.

In theory, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III is in deep ****, but this country is so ****ing broken right now I have no idea if he'll get dinged for perjury or if Republicans will blather about Hillary's emails for two hours.

He already did things in his confirmation hearing that have disqualified other candidates but it's 2017 and Trump is president so the GOP will spin whatever he says as "old news" or "but Hillary!" or whatever and it won't matter.
06-10-2017 , 09:15 PM
would you EVER ask an fbi director to refer to an investigation as a "matter"? and why not?

Rumor has it he's fighting like hell for a private session. NO! GO PUBLIC YOU RACIST COVERING UP BASTARD!
06-11-2017 , 09:30 PM
Are there any questions Session may answer in a private session he can't in a public one?
06-11-2017 , 09:54 PM
classified ones i bet

DOJ Statement says they believe it's important for the public to hear the truth directly from the mouth of Jeff Sessions himself.

He wants to testify in public tomorrow, and will do so unless Burr and Warner object to it!

Interesting. I have to wonder if Trump put him up to this.

I (or someone) can post the exact statement when it comes out on the Twitter. Above is a description from CNN reading it on TV.

What questions will be asked by...

DEMOCRATS
1) Under oath in your confirmation hearing, and again in a letter, you said you had no meetings with the Russians while you were part of the Trump campaign, and then later corrected your answer to say there were 2 meetings. How many other undisclosed Russian meetings were there during that same time period? FOLLOW UP: Who else participated?

2) Earlier, you recused yourself from being US Attorney General for anything Trump Campaign or Russia related. You then violated the recusal to play a part in firing the FBI Director in charge of the Trump Campaign / Russia investigation. Why? Were you asked to write the termination letter?

3) Clearing the room for Comey & Trump to meet in private about dropping the Flynn investigation. Why did you hesitate? Did the POTUS talk to you about it? What did you overhear? Did Comey ever talk to you about his concerns?

REPUBLICANS
(Dunno. Something leaks or Clinton/Obama?)
06-12-2017 , 12:33 PM
Republicans:

Aren't you perhaps overqualified for position of Attorney General?
You have consistently made great decisions in your time as AG, what would you say is your best decision?
You have been accused of forgetting the occasional instance here or there, are you able to remember every meeting with every single person you have ever met in your entire life? Would it be reasonable for an individual to do this?
Would you agree with the statement that nobody is perfect?

More questions from Democrats.

Are you loyal to the President? Are you loyal to the Constitution? To which are you loyal first? Do you believe the original travel ban was constitutional? If so, why then did you revise it? Are judges too political?

Is it okay for a President to ask for the loyalty of the FBI director? Is it okay for an FBI director to pledge his loyalty to a President?

Senator Al Franken asked "what would you do if you became aware that members of Trump's campaign staff had meetings with the Russians?" You never really answered that, except to falsely claim that you had no such meetings. So, to repeat the question, what do you think should be done about those meetings?
06-12-2017 , 01:12 PM
Oooh, he failed to disclose the Kislyak meetings on his SF-86 (is that the name of the clearance application?) like the rest of them. I kinda remember Sessions claiming that it was NBD because "he talked to an FBI guy" who told him to leave it off. I wonder if Jared or Flynn or whoever also talked to the same FBI agent before they lied, or if the agent told Jeff it was fine to lie under oath to Al Franken about it, and in writing for his confirmation, and on the correction statement as well?
06-12-2017 , 01:14 PM
Guess sessions requesting open hearing either means to them they've tested the story to the base and nobody gave a **** or doesn't matter lol nothing's gonna happen.
06-12-2017 , 01:15 PM
I have supreme faith in Democrats to royally **** this up by giving speeches rather than locking him into stories they can subsequently disprove.

I figure they're gonna go hard after loretta lynch instead.

"Hillary did emails. Comey leaked. Why aren't you prosecuting them?"

Will qualify as a hard hitting GOP line
06-12-2017 , 01:27 PM
Republicans will ask: Would you fire Mueller because of these Comey leaks? Is Mueller now compromised?

Dems should ask:

Where did the orange man touch you?
Do you know where you are right now? What day is it?
Do you renounce the KKK yet?
Who's more dangerous, Trump or Putin?
06-12-2017 , 03:00 PM
How many resources will the AG and DOJ be devoting to dealing with this Hillary Clinton email crime scandal?

Pretty much the types of questions I am expecting from this dog and pony show.

If Sessions pulls off some crazy backstab on Trump, I'd lose my mind.
