THE ****?
He's just not good enough for a team (to deal with the drama).

It's the Tebow precedent. (As an aside, we're not comparing Tebow v. Kapernick in football ability).

Why would a team want to deal with all the media, drama, fans saying they aren't buying tickets, worrying about television revenue, etc., to bring in a backup quarterback?

He's just not good enough to deal with all of that.

ppl do appear to have forgotten that kaep is a legit terrible QB who was uncontroversially benched for blaine gabbert because of his terrible QBing. this was b4 the anthem protest

I mean how does the GM even sell Kap to the HC or the owner?

GM: Hey guys--- we're going to bring in this backup QB, he was 3-16 in his last 19 starts, was benched for Blaine Gabbert, and oh, if #1 goes down you have to change your offense around for him because he's not really a pocket passer. Also, he may legit poison the locker room because he enjoys his 1st amendment freedom of speech to protest things on game day. Also, some of the fan base may stop buying tickets or watching the games because they disagree with this protests...

How's that sound guyyyyys?

The way things are going, Colin Kaepernick may not be one of them this year, but that hasn’t stopped people from buying his merchandise. Kaepernick is ranked No. 39 on the NFLPA’s official NFL merchandise Top 50 list, according to Good Morning Football’s Peter Schrager.
Quote:
But there are reasons to believe that the owners’ fear of a negative fan response is irrational, starting with Kaepernick’s merchandise sales.

There’s also the J.D. Power 2017 Fan Experience Survey, which comes out later this month. Of 9,200 people who participated in the survey, only 3 percent said national anthem protests were a reason they watched fewer NFL games last season.

RE: Kaepernick getting benched in favor of Gabbert, that was a Jim Tomsula decision. The underlying wisdom there that Kaepernick obviously isn't that good if Gabbert is starting over him is deferring a lot of authority to Tomsula to making good decisions with football rosters. Tomsula has never been more than a position coach in the NFL, is an obvious moron, and is back to being a third rate position coach. Once you got Kaepernick back with a mediocre coach like Chip Kelly, Kaepnernick was back to being mediocre himself and had what, 3x as many snaps as Gabbert? Note Gabbert is re-employed, Kaep is not.

This is obviously a subtle puff piece for Jim Harbaugh but underlies the fact that tons of hot garbage decisions in the NFL make no sense, there are endless garbage heaps of retread QBs floating around the NFL who haven't proven themselves capable in the right situation like Kaepernick did (like Blaine ****ing Gabbert) and the only reasonable explanation for Kaepernick not getting another chance is collusion due to his perceived political liabilities.

No fans are going to boycott football over this shizz, are you kidding me.

gab gab had a substantially better any/a after taking over from kaep, a better td/int ratio, and he took fewer sacks despite taking more snaps

he was simply better

2016 Football Outsiders Total QBR:
Gabbert 60.3
Kaep 55.2

2015:
Kaep: 47.1
Gabbert 42.6

"Simply better"

The weirdest thing is the bizarre goalpost shift that Kaep blackball truthers go into. You need to be arguing that that he's not a bad starter, but that he's worse than the 30 guys who have 3rd QB positions.

And like awval ends up doing, 90% of the time these guys start off with "Kaep isn't getting blackballed" and end up with "blackballing Kaep is good policy, he reminds me of how mad I get at BLM"
09-02-2017 , 12:30 PM
qbr spits out nonsense such as aaron rodgers 14th best QB in the league, but even under the assumption that its a good metric.. kaep ~= gabbert, except his strengths are such that unless your starter is particularly mobile you have to overhaul your playbook if you wanna get anything out of him

great

btw i reckon kaep's employment prospects have been negatively affected by his off field stuff, and that is wrong. but yo he also stinks

Is there a chance he's not willing to take 3rd QB money and would rather gambool? Which I believe is usually the min.

Seems like he just needs to go to a "I love America. America, it's so great and is amazing" class, promise not to kneel for a few games, then immediately go back to kneeling.

Peak liberalism is "Are we sure he doesn't WANT to be blackballed?"
09-02-2017 , 01:05 PM
I don't follow the NFL closely enough to have an independent opinion on whether he's good enough, but I accept your's and random ESPN bozos that he would be a fine #2.

I would think it would be "its fine if companies choose to blackball people for whatever their reason. We can't just say blackballing is only okay for neo-nazis," or similar.

I swear you don't even read my posts.

He's clearly getting blackballed.

It's just that he's not good enough that a team wants to deal with the drama of having him as a 2nd or 3rd string QB even though he is quite clearly a Top 96 American Football QB.

In awfal999's world, it's drama when a guy raises his fist up, kneels and makes political statements when there are guys in the locker room who have sexually assaulted women who actually make teams.

Radio silence from ya boy awval as Trump pushes Neo-Nazi apologetics and pardons murderous scumbag Arpaio, but he's sure here to remind y'all that the uppity BLM QB isn't very good at sportsball.
