SCOTUS BOWL 2018 SCOTUS BOWL 2018

They can deny a quorum. I thought there was also some other tactic they can do where they put up every single senate action up to a roll call vote that normally gets waived 99% of the time and will essentially shut down the body.

reading between the lines, hayes and maddow are both practically begging teh dems to hold together, and both are aware no way it happens.

amazing thing is there is a high likelihood Trump replaces Ruth too. I want him to nominate some wacko for the lulz but he's smart enough to solidify even more power on the R's by picking a blue chip prospect

Strat wise Trump should go to the right of Scalia given the weakness in Dems senate line. Pretty much a lock it gets thru

what is their plan for the dems?

0% Trump knew who Gorusch was. 100% someone just told him picking Gorusch would make deplorables happy.

Still not even close yet.

Also, kudos to Kennedy for making sure every one of his key decisions gets overturned in the next few years.

Can a lame duck senate appoint the SC justice?

If so, Republicans can wait until after the election - if they have the senate it doesn't matter. If they lose it, appoint it in the lame duck.

The dems are still only 30% to have control of senate on predictit.

So now that is it happening..... what does Roe vs. Wade being overturned mean precisely? Will the new reality be that you can only get an abortion in a blue state..... If you live in a red state can they pass laws to even get you for some BS like crossing state lines to get an abortion somewhere where it is legal?

It means thousands of women dying trying to abort their pregnancies illegally and dangerously.

trump isn't trying to be a president loved by the country, he wants to be loved by his base.

I'd bet if we polled a large sample of deplorables and asked them to name Trump's SCOTUS pick, way less than half would be able to name Gorsuch. All they know is that if Trump picked him, then that's good enough for them. Gorsuch didn't make them happy per se.

Deplorables are just happy that Trump is the pres. Just like he could shoot people and wouldn't lose support, he absolutely could nominate a liberal judge and deplorables would still vote for him. If the nominee was liberal but a white male, they wouldn't even blink. Many would believe that any reporting that the nominee was liberal was just fake news attempting to discredit Trump.

Trump would, of course, never do it. And even if he did, Senate wouldn't confirm. The point is that the deplorable base doesn't really care who the nominee is. All they care about is that Trump picks. And since Trump is infallible, the specific person chosen is irrelevant to them.

Half of them wouldn't be able to name the VP.

Yeah, I was being extremely generous there. Realistically we're in the single digit percentages.

the way people have been speaking about it, it seems that it would be a state issue. but i don't see why the same supreme court couldn't also nullify laws legalizing it in those states as well.

I actually think an overwhelming majority of MAGAts would be able to name Gorsuch simply because up until the travel ban’s upholding his appointment was literally rump’s single concrete achievement

He ran ads for a while where the first thing on the highlight reel was Gorsuch’s appointment

i can think of at least one way to prevent anyone dying from an abortion

Anyway, like Gorsuch rump isn’t going to nominate anyone cuz the ****ing moron is too lazy. Mitch will give him a short list of 2 or 3 r approved names and rump will pick one
06-28-2018 , 02:05 AM
List of names better than trump's likely thought of the crazy lady on TV. God help us all if that happened.

There is a floated rumor of Mike Lee just to get him out of the senate. I think Trump will just pick the best sounding name to him out of that list again.
