The invitations and condolences aren't insults, they are threats/reminders. The prince's condolences to the son are a simple message - normally I would have killed you too so as to have no loose ends, but I can't in the current political climate, but I haven't forgotten about it for the future.

The European Tour (golf) is adding a new tournament to its schedule next season in SA:

Quote:
In its place, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship gets Rolex status and a $7 million purse. That tournament kicks off the European slate in the New Year and will be followed by an annual stop in Dubai plus a new event in Saudi Arabai.

Their mother told detectives the day before the bodies were discovered, she received a call from an official at the Saudi Arabian Embassy, ordering the family to leave the U.S. because her daughters had applied for political asylum, New York police said Tuesday.

I'm reminded of Into the Night, an 80s movie starring Jeff Goldblum where he's chased by Iranian secret police working for the royal family after the fall of the Shah. The goons are ruthlessly murderous but it's a comedy so they're not entirely competent. (The movie isn't very good. David Bowie had a small part which he played well, though.)

Yeah, probably going to need to amend the thread title soon.

Basic update about how this is playing out, unsurprisingly it's developing as a sham SA investigation. Having trouble copy/pasting on this phone but a key takeaway is "bogulmak" my word of the day.

MBS continues to display his political brilliance: Saudi crown prince described slain journalist as a dangerous Islamist in call with White House

"It was, like, totally an accident, trust us, but think about it this way, we actually did you guys a favor!"

What the rest of the world hears:

Quote:
A member of the Saudi team that killed Washington Post contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi made a phone call shortly after the journalist’s death, giving instructions to someone in Saudi Arabia to “tell your boss” that the assassination had been carried out, according to people familiar with the call.
What John Bolton hears: "This audio recording does not implicate the crown prince"

Quote:
National security adviser John Bolton said Tuesday that the audio recording did not appear to provide any link between the killers and Mohammed. Speaking on the sidelines of a regional summit in Singapore, Bolton said that he has not listened to the recording himself but that “those who have listened to it” assess that it does not implicate Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler.

Khashoggi Case Update: Saudi Prosecutor Says 5 Suspects Should Be Executed

Well thank goodness all the people responsible for this horrible crime will be punished so the healing can begin. I nominate Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to head the healing commission.

Trump administration officials last month asked federal law enforcement agencies to examine legal ways of removing exiled Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen in an attempt to persuade Erdogan to ease pressure on the Saudi government, the four sources said.

The effort includes directives to the Justice Department and FBI that officials reopen Turkey's case for his extradition, as well as a request to the Homeland Security Department for information about his legal status, the four people said.

They said the White House specifically wanted details about Gulen's residency status in the U.S. Gulen has a Green Card, according to two people familiar with the matter. He has been living in Pennsylvania since the late 1990s.

Career officials at the agencies pushed back on the White House requests, the U.S. officials and people briefed on the requests said.

"At first there were eye rolls, but once they realized it was a serious request, the career guys were furious," said a senior U.S. official involved in the process.
This would make for an interesting Congressional investigation.

CIA concludes Saudi crown prince ordered Jamal Khashoggi’s assassination

Just some more SABOTAGE from the DEEP STATE

Quote:
The CIA has concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul last month, contradicting the Saudi government’s claims that he was not involved in the killing, according to people familiar with the matter.

The CIA’s assessment, in which officials have said they have high confidence, is the most definitive to date linking Mohammed to the operation and complicates the Trump administration’s efforts to preserve its relationship with a close ally.

It's gonna be a tough to explain a dead journalist being a step too far when the saudis literally did 9/11 and it was forgive and forget.

This is not 1018, it's 2018 and people are just as savage now as they were then. I'm supposed to cry bec people are terrible? I already know that and so do you.

Now we get to see a spectacle: If Trump can't get the Dept. of either Defense or State and/or the NSA to say that they aren't ready to make that call he's backed into a really tight spot. And I'm hoping for the daily double: Not only is the CIA fake news but he'll also call them the enemy of the people. And then I'd get to watch Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham choke.

I don't know what fantasy world you're in if you think they would "choke". They would just pile on with some sort of herp derp Deep State meow chow. And the base would eat it up. Same as it ever was.

I agree that it was once funny in a way. But hearing the same "joke" repeatedly makes it much less so.

I'm guessing that calling the CIA a part of the 'Deep State' anti-Trump conspiracy will be the final straw. Sure, Trump's survived it all so far but that's a bit much and I don't think it'll work this time. FWIW, I think the reason we haven't heard his reaction yet is that he's desperately trying to find a way to squirm out of it and save his arms deal and even he knows that dumping on the CIA is a bad idea.

When it's comes to Trump we've had about 2384969234 calls of the "final straw". None of those have been correct, but I'm sure you've got it this time.

I'm sure that your fantasy world is pretty awesome, but here in the real world we've got pretty strong evidence that nothing matters, especially something like CIA blah blah Deep State blah blah. The only outs are dead girl or live boy and even then I'm not sure those are locks.

He’s going to do what he always does: babble on incoherently without making any definitive statements. Maybe a slight chance he’s pressured to stop making arms deals with SA for the time being but I guarantee nothing major comes from either the murder investigation or Trump’s bumbling handling of the fallout.
