Good luck with that. (Loony tunes theme playing in my head)

Why is it so common for the alt right to portray itself as a victim? Doesn't it counter the masculinity, power and supposed superiority they supposedly represent?

Bad. Any more things needing to be checked off while I'm here? Pedophilia? I'm agin it. I notice some people here have not weighed in on that. I'm sure you and Fly don't have a thing for the little boys personally, but your silence on the matter suggests a disturbing tolerance. Why are you always going on about suppressing speech, instead of hearing the voices of the children?

Gotta give this new dip**** credit, at least they got right to their anti-Semitic point.

Does it bother you at all that the Neo-Nazi clown immediately joined your team?

Well I wish they'd hurry up because there are no decent bagels where I live.

But I'm thinking it will take awhile for a world population of about 15 million Jews to displace 300 million Americans and I sure hope they don't replace China first because my cream cheese is melting.

Sam, are your replacement stats figured in dog years or something?

Quoting a soon-to-be banned poster's anti-semitic drivel only makes it harder for the mods to clean up the mess.

uh yeah man, I'm anti. I don't want the government to revoke the licence of broadcasters for political views or bad editorial decisions or inaccurate stories. You think folks ITT are in favor of doing so? The **** are you talking about?

The best thing about those NBC tweets is that networks are not subject to a FCC license. Individual stations are and the FCC is an independent agency. Once again he displays his high level of stupidity.

Bret Stephens from the NYT Op-Ed page had himself a thought about this free speech stuff:

Neo-Nazis -- let's hear them out!
Progressive Bullies -- risky business!

Can't get past the bootlicking there from Bret Stephens.

Here is The Economist on the global response to the UN report on the Rohingya pogrom in Myanmar, after noting the inability of the UN or ICC to do much:

Quote:
So far the firmest response to the report has come from Facebook, a synonym for the internet in Myanmar and the means by which virulently anti-Muslim propaganda has spread throughout the country. It deleted the army chief’s account the day the UN report was published and promised to store its data on him. Christopher Sidoti, one of the UN investigators, says that could be a formidable tool for justice: “Facebook is more helpful than the UN Security Council at the moment.”

Did i read it wrong, or is the progressive bully an employeed journalist? if that's the case shouldn't the standard be incredibly different between a private person opinion, and a journalist opinion? like the journalist needing , in order to do a good job, to be in a incredibly more narrow ranges of expressed opinions?

Remember: campus safe spaces and liberal snowflakes are the real threat to free expression.

09-05-2018 , 09:37 AM
literally no one in this thread has been talking about campus safe spaces. What in the world are you talking about?

And yeah man, as far as outlawing protests, I and everyone else ITT are, uh, anti. Bigly.

So you wanted Facebook to crackdown on speech.

It did. It hired the far-right Weekly Standard to flag "false" material in order for FB to slash its exposure by 80%

The group Think Progress wrote on FB that Brett Kavanaugh opposes Roe v. Wade, which the Standard toggled as false. Now that article has been confined to purgatory.

Next: global warming flagged as unscientific, articles put in deep-freeze.

"Look what you made Facebook do, libs!" - oh, wait:

Last year, Facebook announced that it would partner with The Weekly Standard, a conservative magazine, to “fact check” news articles that are shared on Facebook.

I mean, even if the timeline matched up, I've still never quite understood how people who do not work for any social media company saying "hey Twitter should ban some of the Nazis" caused this. Like they weren't gonna do it then they saw this 2p2 post? And instead of banning the Nazis, the thing I asked for, they hired The Weekly Standard to "fact check" liberal advocacy journalism?

It's shameless, it's bad arguing, and it's because Bill is way more sympathetic to the alt-right's views on a couple of issues(((I have my suspicions as to which))) but is too much of a ****ing coward to own his actual views on substance, so instead we get this fairy tale bull**** about free speech procedure.

An entire ****ing political party, including the President that you and Glenn can't just seem to find time to critique, believes climate change is a ****ing hoax. We're already at the bottom of that slope!

P.S. Bill please stop lying about the articles you link. It's insulting! I know there's no swears but it really is quite rude.

DeVos, Sessions warn of deepening free-speech crisis on college campuses

Maybe Foldn took a job in the Trump administration!

Quote:
Speaking at an event in Philadelphia, DeVos lamented that the “heckler’s veto” prevails on too many campuses, with students or protesters shutting down speeches by polarizing figures and with some universities charging student groups exorbitant fees for bringing in speakers “they deem to be controversial.”

“Too many administrators have been complicit in creating or facilitating a culture that makes it easier for the heckler to win,” DeVos said, addressing students.
Of course, don't let reality get in the way:

Quote:
But some observers question whether a “free-speech crisis” exists. The American Council on Education, a higher-education organization, surveyed 471 college and university presidents this year and found 96 percent said allowing students to be exposed to all kinds of speech was more important than protecting them by banning offensive speech.
