The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more! The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more!

I've always had him pegged as confused and naive, but earnest in his own misguided way.

I didn't need to be convinced to leave. Travelling is pretty awesome.

I love my country but it's going downhill real ****ing fast. We have to see the kinds of protests that happened during the 1960s to have an impact. Gotta get well over 100K+ at every protest organized. General strikes worked in the early 20th century, but I doubt that'll happen now.

Well...neither did I. But liberals fleeing the country en masse is neither desirable nor feasible.

Not joking.

Then reform. Do not resist.

There was a thinly veiled anti-Trump march in my town today for freedom and rights and stuff. Pretty good turnout for a small city. There was one lone counter-protester on the other side of the street waving a big Trump flag. Everybody ignored him.

MoveOn.org is hosting Community Meetings to Resist Trump this Sunday.

Quote:
Join MoveOn and People's Action for a critical national day of action just days before the inauguration—on Sunday, January 15.

We'll organize community meetings across the country to talk about what resistance looks like on the local level and sketch out a plan to keep our communities safe, fight for our values, and resist the new administration every step of the way—including by organizing opposition to Trump's dangerous cabinet appointments.

There is a quickly growing Arts Strike on J20, calling for museums, galleries, etc. to be closed. I'm thinking the Guggenheim will probably stay open, but they've gotten a surprising number of commitments in just a few days. This is just NY:

#Trump420 is apparently a thing.

Quote:
We will gather on the west side of Dupont Circle at 8am for coffee & tea and parade down to the National Mall at 10am. Along the way we'll hand out 4,200 joints of legally grown cannabis! At 4 minutes and 20 seconds into President Trump's speech we'll light up!
Dude!

The Commies at Workers World are on board for the J20 protests.

Plan for pink 'pussyhats' in Washington after Trump's inauguration

Quote:
For the last two months, Krista Suh and Jayna Zweiman have been calling on people around the world to make 1.17 million pink "pussyhats" for those attending the Women's March, a rally on Jan. 21 organized with hopes bringing attention to civil and human rights issues.

Sister Marches are solidarity events inspired by the Women's March on Washington, and organized by volunteers around the world. If you can't make it to Washington, D.C. on January 21, join or host a Sister March near you.

Solid idea. I would if within 3 states. Would also do the march. I've been wrong about most things in the last 12 months, but I expect the march to be bigly, 1M+. Trump will say they're all paid shills.

My wife went to a thing where they were making hats, but her effort failed to acheive hatness. Someone else at the meeting who can knit is making one for her.

A sampling of (mainly) LA area parades and parties fiestas to consider. The Women's March in DC, and all the Sisters around the world, are going to be yuge enormous.

Friday it's supposed to rain which makes a strike day and march easier for me actually.

100%. We're going to need those worksites shut down during a "real" General Strike too.

Friday/Saturday forecast for the east coast and much of the rest of the country looks fantastic. Temps way above freezing and little to no rain. Chicago mid-40's, NYC will be near 50°, and DC will be near 60°. Lovely weekend for a march or two.

Elderly women who collect tea cosies? idk, I'm not a woman so I won't judge how they run their march. Probably no less effective than the stoners' 420 smoke out.

Ive been doing some reading about the planned protests in my area, they are calling for a shutdown of highways and interstates.

What is the legal recourse for getting them out of the way when I'm trying to get home from work?
