The march will do a lot of change for the good. I used to think Trump was a cool guy, but now I think he sucks thanks to the awareness raised!

I really don't see anything wrong with that sentence, though we could give when the pill for free or a reduced cost so they don't even have to get an abortion. That means less worry for the woman and man.

In fact in states that did do that abortions went down.

planned parenthood should be defunded. I don't want to pay for abortions or someone else's birth control. they can pay for their own bc and abortions

You don't pay for abortions through planned parenthood. Planned Parenthood is only paid for the procedures authorized by Medicare and Medicaid just like every other company and which are banned from accepting payments for abortions.

that's super, but some people seem to disagree and think people dealing with health issues should get government support
01-22-2017 , 05:17 AM
if federal funding makes it so that planned parenthood can provide low to no cost BC, doctor's appointments, general health care etc, does that not free them up to use money for abortions? i'm well aware of the hyde amendment. if PP gets money to do A, they can use more of their own money to do B because they don't have to spend it on A. that's the logic

Not quite the quickest "I'm feigning ignorance. Oops I really oppose something" I've seen on the forum but close.

So why the charade?

Come on, a conservative SC upheld the ACA
Stars do align (that's how we got such unlikely things as trump and brexit) but also you're evaluating each bit from where we stand now when there's a real danger that the ground is moving fast under our feet.

People: consider running for office, getting more seriously involved in other ways, and/or encouraging others to do so.

After volunteering at a Clinton HQ for a couple of days in November, I sense that an intelligent, presentable, decently dressed, hard-working person could start volunteering and "rise up the ranks" of the party pretty fast, on the way to a position of some importance if not an actual supported candidate.

(Note: I have no actual clue how these things work except a minor anecdotal experience, but...90% of success is showing up?)

If you do wind up running for something, be animated and curse out Trump and such (increase the variance).

Now move to North Dakota, please. A half million would turn the whole state blue or something.

Women's March hits all 7 continents.

No one thinks like that. Except for you.

this

Except the huge majority of people don't want to roll up their sleeves and make the sausage. They think the world will change because they walked with a sign for 30 minutes.

I go up to our State Legislature on a regular basis to lobby for a cause. It's demeaning, unappreciated work.

political change will happen as long as I "start a discussion" by calling everything racis from my Twitter feed

People like 33 are so shameless. Throw out absolute garbage lies, get called out it and then just move on to the next alt right talking point. It's the whole game. Never admit you were wrong, but try never to be right.

It's not even good trolling.

I bet catch 33 thinks OWS is full of stupid dirty hippies doing pointless things and wasting good people's time.

Yeah, I'm pretty upset about taxpayer money going to fund evictions.

Or how about this... the odious politicians can do their farcical swearing in on Air Force One. They've done it there before. I'm pretty damn upset that taxpayer money was used to bring in 30k extra cops, pay for all those barriers, and disrupt an entire working day in a major US city.

the government should only spend money on defense and the justice system. people should pay for their own health care or get a job with an employer that provides a health care plan
01-22-2017 , 11:55 AM
I don't want to pay for defense. Why should I?
01-22-2017 , 11:59 AM
well I don't want to pay for abortions so I voted for representatives that will work to defund PP. what have you done to try to lower or eliminate the amount you pay to defense?

The employer gets tax breaks from the government, which is another way of saying there is government funded healthcare. They just inefficiently funnel it through employers.
