The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more! The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more!

I'm totally stealing microbet's sign idea.

I still consider myself part of the resistance. I haven't done much lately to help though.

I signed up a few months ago for the Mueller firing if it happens.

I spent the last 10 minutes looking for upcoming protests in my area. Have not seen anything. I'm near Gainesville, FL.

So this women's march on January 20, I'm a little confused. It looks like the main national march is in Vegas the next day? But apparently the biggest on the 20th this year will be in NYC? It looks about four to five times bigger than the one in DC.

So from what I understand the Vegas March is a push to register voters (not sure on why Vegas was picked) and they are having the women’s march on the 20th. At the last swing left meeting I went to, one of the woman mentioned she was going to the DC one, I asked her how much ol’ George was paying her but she wouldn’t tell me. I’ve gotten emails from swing left and the ACLU about the march and have gotten a group of friends to attend the Chicago one, definitely think turn outs will be high for these marches around the country

renodoc,

reason.com is supposed to be libertarian, right?

Seems like they are Republican stooges, just like most "libertarians". Maybe instead of trying to use this to call Democrats hypocrites, they should note how much the Republicans (who voted for it in a much higher percentage) HATE FREEDOM!

Libertarians vote for a party with a tradition of big gov surveillance then pointing out the hypocrisy of the others is about right. If more republicans are for it and he dont like it shouldn't that mean he should vote dem.

One of my new year's resolutions is to add action to my ranting on facebook and 2+2.

For the last year, my aunt has been regularly emailing out suggested actions that are specific and resistance focused (e.g. call this person and advocate for this thing). This year, I helped her start a facebook group where she posts her resistance actions and (for now) I do them and indicate as such in the comments / likes. I'd like to get her a larger audience more inclined to take action.

It's a great and easy way to act and resist. She knows the issues, who to contact, etc.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested and I'll add you to the group!

I don't think I'm going to. It seems out of place for a dude to have a sign about bricks at the women's march. Next march/protest.

I'm going to the march in DC Saturday... Any good sign ideas?

I'm considering something basic like:

11/6/18
VOTE.

Or...

If you turn out, we will win.
11/6/18

Or...

ALL are created equal.

Or...

Puerto Ricans... are Americans.
USVI residents... are Americans.
CHIP kids... are Americans.
Dreamers... should be Americans.
Treat them like it.

But that's kind of long.

Or...

Immigration: As American as apple pie.
Helping US citizens in PR: As American as hot dogs.
Donald Trump: Nyet Amerikanskiy.

Not really in love with any, but leaning toward the voter turnout ones.

Have a sign where on one side it says "Obama Cognition Sample Question" and under it list a question like "Amygdala is to Anger as Medulla is to Sneezing.

Then on the other side have it say "Trump Cognition Sample Question" and under it say "Circle the giraffe." Then show a picture of a tiger and a giraffe with the tiger circled in crayon. Then put an "A+ very good!" next to it.

Seems like there should be something woman related on the sign.

Maybe a quote from Rosa Luxemburg like: "Those who do not move, do not notice their chains." Or by Abdullah Ocalan: "A society can never be free without women's liberation."

or maybe, and I can't really do this quite right here, but
.....................C
TRUMP IS A RA IST
.....................P

with the C and the P closer together

I was thinking about doing something women's related, but their website does include issues such as immigration, civil rights and worker's rights. I figured most signs would be related to women's issues, but the other ones are worth mentioning, and at this moment in time I have more urgent feelings about some of the other issues, given the GOP assault on CHIP, DACA, and immigration.

But ultimately, rather than being a dude at the women's march with a sign about one of the organizer's non-gender specific issues, maybe just going with the get out the vote sign is best.

I could also do, "Don't just protest. Vote. 11/6/18"

Cool. If you're interested in some random dude joining you I can send you my number. ****'s lonely by myself after most of my friends moved away.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I ended up going with:

Then they came for CHIP and the DREAMers and we said NO

and

11/6/18
VOTE!

To everyone else demonstrating throughout the country, be safe!
