Democracy is when the guy who wins gets the most votes.

US elections are roughly as democratic as those in Iran.

You are correct, they are actually demonstrating against the Constitution.

No, the constitution actually guarantees their right to protest.

Gee thanks,

By doing so you are demonstrating against article 2 and the 12th amendment.

Funny you should mention article 2, the part of the constitution which deals with emoluments, and impeachment for treason, bribery, and other high crimes. So once again, the constitution guarantees both the right to protest, AND the mechanism by which the concerns of the protesters can remove the president.

The guy hasn't even been sworn in yet. I'm talking about protesting the completely legal and constitutional way he was elected, which is all it amounts to right now.

Once he actually commits a treasonous act I'll be first in line to impeach.

All sorts of peeps will be demonstrating for all sorts of things. They won't be shy telling you what those things are. But I'm going to guess that not one in a million is concerned about the A2&12thA. Are you living in an alternate universe ??

Looks like YOU oppose freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, so you're the real one who wants to destroy America!

Article 2 says nothing about treason being committed while in office. Or bribery for that matter. I also believe by the time the women's march occurs, trump will already be sworn in the day before, having violated the emoluments clause while in office.

Cool, have fun, I'm sure inconveniencing millions of people across the country will really help get them on your side.

Yeah, if only Martin Luther King had considered the feelings of all the people stymied getting lunch when scheduling sit ins, we would have gotten equal rights so much faster.

He did get the most votes in the states that mattered under the currently accepted (by both parties) electoral system. i.e. Democracy.

Not at all. Where did I say I oppose it?

As long as it's peaceful, people can protest as much as they like. All I was doing was pointing out what the protest is actually about.

Good point. I forgot all about that shiz.

But still, I wouldn't characterize those peeps as protesting against the Constitution, I'd characterizing them as protesting for the interstate compact, or for an amendment to the Constitution, using completely constitutional means. Their protests are an affirmation of the Constitution.

Looks like 2017-? is going to be filled with just as much conservative idiocy as 2001-08 was. "Protesting the president is un-American hurr durr"
01-17-2017 , 02:25 PM
Trump will soon be in the position that he should rightfully be impeached because of corruption and conflicts of interest. He shouldn't be impeached because the electoral system is stupid, but the electoral system should still be eliminated.
