Think you're putting the cart before the horse here. AOC wasn't a media darling until after she'd pulled off a surprise upset. She managed to win with a shoe-leather door-knocking campaign and a platform that the base responded to. And also because her opponent was one of the most gormless, corrupt Dems in the party. The spicy tweetstorms came afterward.

Where did I say she was a media darling? She built her campaign through social media, not just knocking on doors.

Sure. My point is that she's doing this by advancing progressive ideas that the party sort of abandoned. Snarky takedowns of Sarah Palin are sort of a fun but superfluous entertainment. I like them, but it's not what gets me to join the DSA.

I mean, imagine doing away with her progressive policies and organizing and substance and just running a campaign based on epic burns on Twitter and you'd basically have the Avenatti campaign.
