Not that I think there's any logical thought behind it, but the right's obsession with AOC is a huge mistake.

Definitely this. Best strategy for the right is to treat her like any other very junior member of Congress. In other words, they should ignore her.

She's actually quite good at clapping back and Twitter wars. Going after her and then losing the battle just raises her profile.

Yeah, their latest efforts seem to have netted her about 250k more subscribers and a tweet more liked than anything Trump's ever tweeted. She was front page of the BBC for a bit.

Her fighting back is fine for them. They need a perpetual enemy. If she ignored them it wouldn't give them as much material. It's like a youtube rivalry. You make a video attacking someone, they make a reply video, you reply to that, etc.

As a BU alum, I received some background on the dance video: http://www.bu.edu/today/2019/ocasio-...dancing-video/
A couple of months ago, the alumni magazine featured both AOC and Ayanna Pressley: https://www.bu.edu/bostonia/fall18/ . It turns out I attended BU at the same time as both of them -- AOC in Spring 2011, and Pressley in 1993 and possibly additional years. Go Terriers for life (or at least 17 semesters)!

Edit: On the tuition/loan issue, I think it's reasonable to prorate the loan forgiveness, add credits for loans that have already been repaid, and have a factor for the salary rating of private schools. So Harvard grad who already paid their loans off after 15 years gets close to zero. Public school graduate who has paid off half after 5 years gets 75% of remaining amount forgiven, and tax credit of 75% of paid off amount. Etc.

I guess it would be pretty funny if it turned out he's even dumber than Trump and his whole deal is based on not understanding marginal rates. But odds are he's just an *******.

Holy ****, that ratio.

And yes, Grover Norquist is a long-standing *******.

Grover Norquist/GOP at large: "making tens of millions of dollars a year is a lot more like slavery than you all realize"

How does Grover Norquist not understand the concept of a tax bracket in a progressive taxation system? ****ing *******
01-05-2019 , 11:09 PM
He understands it but none of his followers do so gotta get them riled up.

I've been hearing the name Grover Norquist my entire adult life. I'm shocked to see he's not a 100 years old.

Yeah, it goes by $50 increments. I was catching up on this thread and am glad somebody finally mentioned this... I guess we’re the only two people in this forum who still do their taxes by hand? I refuse to pay extra money to use software and quite frankly i trust myself more than an accountant.

I said it yesterday but yeah good thing someone not on ignore backed me up

Mods can’t ignore a user. Having to read SenorKeeed’s posts again is like the single biggest drawback to being a mod.

I also have to add that I didn’t see what the big deal was over AOC initially, but god damn she has won me over.

The ms OTT pushback is so pathetic. They're actually upset lmao.

AOC is amazing. Very possible she eventually leads a massive change in American politics to be more progressive.

**** that I have dozens of users on ignore, but probably not a good idea to ignore all the bad politics posters if you mod politics
