I don't understand, the youngsters from Darien, CT seem to have no problem bootstrapping it and just eating huge rents on no salary in DC. That's just part of getting ahead, realizing the American dream. What's the problem here? Just asking questions.

Seriously though I thought there was a minor push outing this kind of **** as just that, ****, a few months back but I guess it died down. I'm a fan of AOC going right after all this stuff right away.

There's probably an environment thread here somewhere, but here's the climate change town hall stream

Well I never.

Such a breath of fresh air. You're not supposed to do politics this way; you're supposed to slither and slime your way up the greasy pole over so many years that you've forgotten why you were a radical in the first place.

If she stays true to herself I fear for her safety.

One thing is really shows is how untethered our politicians can be when they are not beholden to corporate donors and lobbyists. AOC is unabashedly pursuing a populist agenda, which almost no other politician is able or willing to do.

Count one for the fact checkers. They looked that Pentagon numbers and the number is for the total number of unaccounted for transactions which isn't the same as a pile of money equal to that number because the transactions are both ingoing and outgoing.

So no, you couldn't fund some portion Medicare with that number because it's not an apples to apples comparison.

Get ready for the conservative wonks that somehow always drive the economy in a ditch to crow about how dumb AOC is.

Donald Trump: my wall will be paid for by Mexico with interest and penalities, create 30 million jobs across the Rust Belt, will send the white unemployment rate to -15% and the Dow Jones to 80000 and will protect the beautiful pre-existing conditions

AOC: $21 trillion of Pentagon financial transactions “could not be traced, documented, or explained” which could fund Medicare

Right wing economists: excuse me ma'm, MA'M, excuse me, this is not correct are you sure you are qualified

AOC's emergence is the best reason for any sort of optimism in the political landscape for quite awhile.

Wonderfully refreshing.

I hope it inspires more of her generation to follow her audacious, fearless lead. Out with the old, career dirt bags, bless their hearts, and in with the new.

We need to have primary battles like the right have been having, between the entrenched old guard and the brand new radicals

Even someone from this forum could do it. Her example doesn't preclude any of us, does it?

'cept I'm a 40 something introvert lol

You probably won't be able to get away with using Suicidal Tendencies as your campaign music, either
