Do you really think I don't know what to cry wolf means? Ten years ago, people like you could call someone a racist and observers would assume it was true or at least look into it. But today, after millions of baseless accusations, a wounded SJW calling someone a racist no longer results in people giving the accusation credence or bothering to investigate. That's a pretty textbook example of crying wolf.

I just typed "Sanders acolytes" into Google since I was sure there would be results using it to refer to dedicated political followers (although not necessary people who work with him personally or are literally altar attendants, which is one of the older definitions). Let's have a look:

Random House's third definition (after its more literal religious ones) is "any attendant, assistant, or follower."

And those are the only two dictionaries I checked. Not only is it not misused to describe the AOC acolytes in this thread, it's eminently appropriate, and its alliterative aspect with AOC seems to betoken divine endorsement.
