4. FFIX
5. Tony Hawk 2

None of those are in the same league as the top 5 N64 games (Ocarina, Mario, Goldeneye, Smash, (pick one: Mario Kart/Majora's Mask/Perfect Dark/Rogue Squadron). You could make an argument that Metal Gear Solid was an important and noteworthy game, but none of the rest were remotely innovative.
Putting FFIX in the top 5 and not FFVII, which is a super notewothy game, is insane and proves that this list is hot garbage. Just in terms of sales, FFVII was only outsold by Mario64, MarioKart, and (lolwut) Gran Turismo only out of all games in that generation.

There may be an argument that you would prefer to be limited to only play the Top 5 N64 games rather than Top 5 PS1 games, but we're talking about the consoles on the whole.

That said, arguing that Castlevania SotN and MGS are not in the same league as roflmao Perfect Dark, Majoras Mask, and Rogue Squadron - bahahahaha. I thought people were eating bans for trolling now.

FWIW the hot take from Final Fantasy fans these days is FFIX > FFVII. Not that I agree, but it's sort of the cool internet kid take.

SNES > N64 AINEC, but AOC is forgiven if its the nostalgia goggle console from her childhood.

Admittedly, I did not have N64 or Gamecube (I went all three Ataris, NES...PS1, Xbox), but the early "3D" systems like N64 and PS1 did not age well. They are certainly important, but most of the polygonal 3D stuff was kind of ****ty when you look back on it.

I did love my PS1, though. Still have it.

Yes, we do. AOC has been ignorantly spamming for Mermaids UK, a somewhat dubious 'charity' which aligns with homophobic and misogynistic parents to enforce puberty-blocking drugs and even surgery on vulnerable children.

Xbox 360 has the greatest controller of all time.

(unlike my last post this one is not trolling, this is scientific fact)

Yea. I was a teenager at the time and preordered an N64 that summer. It was awesome at first with Mario 64 and it has its high points, but the stream of games was such a slow trickle that you usually had nothing good to play if it was your only system. PS1 was unambiguously the better system to own if you played games regularly. (I eventually had both.)

I would agree that PS1 > N64 even in retrospect because of the huge quantity of solid base hits.

And yes of course the system you choose is generational.

It's soooo charming now though to look back on them.

It's fun, but its politics are trash and it's probably a net negative for the world.

Good piece from Matt Taibbi on AOC and her detractors.

Quote:
The Lieberman example is the most amazing. Here’s a person who was explicitly rejected by his own party in 2006 and had to run as an Independent against the Democratic nominee to keep his seat. Yet he somehow still has the stones to opine that if Ocasio-Cortez is the “new face” of the Democrats, the party does not have a “bright future.”

How many Democrats, do you think, heard that and immediately thought the opposite – that if Joe Lieberman disapproves, Ocasio-Cortez must be on the right track? Sixty percent? Seventy?
Hello, is this TaibbiBet.com? I'd like to put $10,000 on the over, please.

There is a whole range of popular policy ideas the Washington political consensus has been beating back for decades with smoke and mirrors, from universal health care to legalized weed to free tuition to expanded Social Security to those higher taxes on the rich.
Seriously

and I think you can add reducing the US' perpetual war machine to another issue that is popular with the public but un-popular with donors and the political class.

This particular use of the meme is odd, we don't get a sense of what the woman in the first drawing looks like; it is entirely unclear that there's any difference in facial attractiveness. Woman in the second drawing has nice curves and would get plenty of attention in the modern dating world.

Don't know how the tweet will display, but guy has first 4 pages of a script for Sorkin's upcoming show "M.C.G.".

She's not the ignorant one. Perhaps you're confusing her with Graham Linehan. But at least hbomberguy is dunking on Linehan on Twitter so it's relevant to this thread.

I must most emphatically disagree with your stated position. While i have great respect for you as a fellow human being and wish nothing but good things upon your person, I believe there are one or two inadvertent falsehoods or exaggerations in your preceding statement which render significant portions of it incorrect (from my admittedly limited perspective). I would like to discuss these discrepancies with you further in the spirit of mutually beneficial inquiry if you are of a mind?
