I have avoided FB since the trumpining began and dont know any 'out' trump supporters, but I don't generally discuss politics with clients and dont have any friends or immediate family who support Trump (but I would shudder to view what the extended fam has graced FB with.)

I know 2 people, Facebook "friends" from high school

One is a 30 year old white male, limited college education, former jock, works in construction, pretty racist, very conservative. Half his posts are about something political or linking news stories where black people are involved in an altercation

Other one is 30 year old female, Bible thumper. Links Joel Osteen stuff and goes to those religious services on TV in arenas. Haven't seen any racist posts but is against immigrants based on posts. Not much education, married, and she tries to make a living through Amway

Age: Around 40

Marital Status: Married.
Education: MBA.
Ethnic Heritage: Caucasian
Political Affiliation: Hard core Republican.
Religion: Mainstream protestant
Why Trump?: Very pissed at the Republican establishment, which she believes has abandoned the voters. In other words, she pretty much toes the Rush Limbaugh line. Buys hook, line, and sinker the idea that the Republican lost twice to Obama because they nominated RINOs.
Misc: Intelligent; outdoor oriented vegan; rabid promoter of breast feeding; seems to have a lot of questionable opinions about Muslims as a group.
Let me guess, her excessively conservative and religious husband or father brainwashed her good, eh?

I don't know any well in real life, other than an old, miserable white guy a few houses down who routinely screams at anyone who parks within 10ft of his car, which he incidentally moves once a month.

It wasn't her husband. They were both quite conservative when they met. Don't know her parents but I think the whole family is quite conservative.
01-18-2016 , 09:20 PM
Seems like there is a lot of anger out there.
01-19-2016 , 12:09 AM
The only one I know for sure is an old acquaintance of mine from basically childhood, nice enough guy but dumb as a bag of bricks. Ex-military. Posts a lot of conservative memes on Facebook, mostly about how guns are awesome and Muslims are bad. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out that my boss - mid-50's, well educated, relatively good manager - is a Trump supporter, but I have nothing to go on for that other than he hates Obama and loves guns.

I generally find that educated women who in 2016 are middle-aged or younger aren't conservative unless they've been brainwashed by a religious or controlling right-wing man in their lives.

Gender: Female
Age: Early 40's
Occupation: Gov't employee
Marital status: My wife
Education: High School, 2 years college
Political: Was dem until about 2010, now votes all rep.
Racism: Is fine with hispanics, doesn't care for blacks.
Why Trump: Is tired of the GOP establishment and thinks Hillary is an awful person, wants something different.

Gender: Male.
Age: 29
Occupation: Police officer
Marital Status: Single
Education: Bachelors in Criminal Justice
Ethnic Heritage: Half White, half East Indian
Political Affiliation: Previously a Democrat, became a Republican after joining the force
Religion: Nonpracticing Catholic
Why Trump?: The Democrats are all pussies trying to take away guns from all of the good guys and Trump is the guy who rustles them the most. Also he's building a wall.
Misc: Immigrants are ruining the country but is the son of 2 Immigrants. Hates Christie more than Clinton for taking away his pension match.

It’s fair to say Republican strategist Rick Wilson is not a fan of Donald Trump, and tonight.. boy did his comments about Trump’s rabid fans go to a weird place.

Wilson talked to Chris Hayes about a very specific section of Trump’s fans; not his mainstream supporters, his “alt-right” fans. The ones, he explained, that have lots of “Hitler iconography in their Twitter icons.”

He went on to say, “Most of them are childless single men who masturbate to anime. They’re not real political players. These are not people who matter in the overall course of humanity.”

Gender: Male
Age: mid 30s
Occupation: Entrepreneur - owns several shopping centers I think
Marital Status: Married, two children. Hot wife (I almost banged her in college).
Education: not sure, I think HS
Ethnic Heritage: White
Political Affiliation: Republican probably
Religion: none - Christian sympathizer
How racist is he: Can't really tell, but he doesn't hang out with many blacks. Country boy.
Why Trump?: knows Trump won't put up with any bs. Would have got the hostages back from Iran.
Description: This guy is one of the most competative guys I know, hates to lose... pretty good at sports. Good looking. Not super smart, but ambitious. I think he's a self-made millionaire.

alright these two TRUMP supporters live in rural NC, a bit north of raleigh/durham

Gender: Male.
Age: 50s-60s
Occupation: unsure, something blue collar
Marital Status: single (i assume, he has no wedding ring)
Education: unsure, probably no college degree
Ethnic Heritage: white
Political Affiliation: republican
Religion: seems like he could identify as christian, not sure tho
Why Trump?:classic joe blow who feels abandoned by the republican establishment and their policies that **** all over him, pissed off about mexican immigration, also hates blacks and is still mad AF about benghazi. for him it's all a big F U to hillary (unsure if women in general) and minorities, and he loves it
Misc: i see him sometimes on friday when i go over to my parents' neighbor's house to drink a couple beers and shoot pool. i try to avoid interacting with him, he seems pretty miserable with a lot of pent up rage/angst, and i know that if i had a real conversation with him, i'd hurt his feelings which may lead to him lashing out

Gender: Male.
Age: 50-something
Occupation: self employed, wood working
Marital Status: married
Education: unsure, likely nothing past high school
Ethnic Heritage: white, canadian by birth but has lived in the states for ~20 yrs
Political Affiliation: unsure, probably fair to characterize him as libertarian
Religion: none
Why Trump?: i gather that he's enamored to some extent by the "strongman" act, i've heard him make some very racist comments and he's a real bootstrappy kind of guy. he seems fairly anti-govt but relatively low-info when it comes to politics. likely enjoys the idea that TRUMP gets **** done and is "shaking things up" in washington
Misc: interestingly, he's a pretty easy going and fun guy, doesn't strike me as really mad or upset about anything, but he is feisty and he definitely thinks working hard, being honest, etc are "white" values. he is the neighbor whose house i sometimes go to on friday afternoons when i'm around (it's more a formality than anything else). i smoke weed with him from time to time and before i went to mexico he mentioned going down there for an extended period to "dry out" from cocaine abuse back in the 80s or 90s. he gave me legit terrible advice re: dealing with mexican police, which i of course didn't even think about following. his wife has a benghazi bumper sticker that says "HILLARY LIED AND 4 AMERICANS DIED", and i peg her as a glenn beck/rush limbaugh type who probably poisons his mind with all kinds of nonsense that she hears on AM radio during her 30 minute work commute.

In Canada, I have yet to see one.

My buddy has been talking for months about voting for Trump (which also means his wife will because he basically votes for her which angers me a bit) and I told him I thought he was more of a Rubio guy. Anyways I've been pointing out all the nazi **** trump has been doing the past two weeks or so and yesterday he went from 'I'm gonna vote Trump cause it's funny' to 'I'm not sure who I'm gonna vote for, I think Rubio'

Nailed it

Weak. A guy who works with me was going to vote Trump (if he voted) and I got him to switch to Bernie.

Works with you or for you? If you're his boss he could just be "playing politics" with you.

That isn't as unnatural a switch as you think. Highly uniformed anti establishment "partisans" can rank those candidates 1 and 2. Quite a few of those types post here.

True.

But micro owns his company so I presume most of the people he works with actually work for him. And most people try to avoid talking politics with the boss. (I suppose sub-contractors and vendors may open up a bit more though.)

For me. He's not paying politics. I know him pretty well. He's worked for me for 8 years, since he was 17. It's more that he's not very political and just liked Trump's rants. He's fairly anti-immigrant, which is really not that unusual for descendants of descendents of Mexican immigrants. There's a definite division between some Americans who have Mexican ancestry and the recent immigrants they derogatorally call pisas.

I'd be careful talking to people that work for you about who to vote for.

That's illegal?

But at any rate, the kid has been working for me since he was literally a child. I tell him what do in his personal life all the time (not that he always follows my advice). I'm not going to sweat telling him to vote Bernie. I mean it's very obvious it's not a job requirement or anything like that.

It's a small company and I'm awfully cool so people talk to me freely.

You're the exception though -- lot's of people get their panties in a twist over that stuff at work and most subordinates learn to stay away from those conversations.

I got in a huge screaming match with a boss once when I laughed in his face after he told me Iraq 1 was about democracy and not oil. I didn't realize he had fought in the war and was sensitive about it, but that hardly excuses his ignorance.
