fatkid, you're being piled on here, so instead of doing the same...here's a suggestion:

take a real hard look at yourself and how you think about and treat women. I'm not saying you're part of the problem specifically, not in any way except that we are all part of the problem.

I've always considered myself a gentlemen and someone who has treated women well, but I'm shocked to see how literally every woman I know has a horrible story. And I know, deep down, I have been as graceless in a drunken situation as Aziz Ansari was. We are taught from an early age that women are a prize, something to be won, something to conquer...and if it takes coercion and lies and alcohol, so be it.

Well, women have had enough of it. And I don't blame them. This is not an excuse, and it's something we should be willingly to change.

We are all complicit.



I understand looking at Portman's speech and being exasperated, but you have not walked in her shoes. Step back, and consider her POV. That's all I ask. It's a problem that has to be articulated so that it can be understood before it can be solved. So right now, our job is to just listen without judgement.

It's not even about feeling sorry for Natalie Portman. She's criticizing a world in which a woman expects to be unsafe if she is open about being sexual and using her story as an example. It has nothing to do with decisions she, her parents or her agents made.

I’m 100% only talking about Hollywood. It’s a horrible business. I work on movies, I’ve seen it all.
