It's like the GOAT derail I've ever seen, but I don't mind if it goes into another thread... It's hard to follow and would be interesting to keep some of those discussions going. Doesn't bother me being in this thread, though, it's 100x better than 99.9% of the derails we see.

He might fear that it increases his chances of being impeached before this all plays out, which takes away his future ability to issue pardons. He may figure his best shot at keeping the presidency, growing his wealth and staying out of jail is to have future opportunities to issue pardons.

Also, his best chance is communicating (I'm sure he did on that phone call) that he's going to pardon those who are loyal AFTER the fact. I think he is drawing live to get away with it... "While Paul Manafort may have made a mistake or two, he was caught up in a witch hunt and he doesn't deserve this, which has nothing to do with collusion with Russia. They never would have found this stuff if not for the totally partisan democratic deep state Comey Mueller Rosenstein Obama Lynch Clinton witch hunt. NO COLLUSION! SAD! PARDON!!! HAPPY!!! MAGA!"

I think enough of his base eats that up that he has a shot to get away with it all... but it plays best after the fact... If he just needs everyone to keep their mouth shut to avoid being implicated himself, that strategy could work.

I like the career stuff too. But I'd rather see it in its own thread where it doesn't get lost in the endless firehose of Trump ****.

2-3 times? Damn. I thought my one time getting up was bad.

I assume you don't drink a ton before bed. Dunno if this is good forum etiquette and ianad, but have you had a prostate exam?
04-19-2018 , 02:21 AM
Why would a dad ask someone if they've had a prostate exam?
04-19-2018 , 02:28 AM
Dad? "ianad" would be "I am not a dad"?
04-19-2018 , 02:34 AM
Ok just making sure we're on the same page. Still confused about the subject though.

Peeing that much also probably means suzzer is super low on electrolytes. Make sure you take sodium tablets or something man.

Thanks for this legal advice. Can I assume all my forum communications are now privileged?

I'm also fine with the career derail. ****, we live here now, might as well get to know one another.

Prior to drinking, I have a fatty, greasy meal like a shawarma, pizza or traditional fast food. It'll coat your stomach and slow the absorption of alcohol.

About an hour before I go to sleep, I drink a glass of water with oral rehydration salts mixed in. I then drink one when I wake up in the morning and then begin eating foods high in electrolytes. Watermelon is the perfect hangover food. It's high in electrolytes, boosts your blood sugar and is 90% water. I might use OTC pain meds for headaches and Immodium for diarrhea.

If I do this, the hangover is incredibly short if I have one at all.

It's a good and non-intrusive derail. Probably the best one in this thread so far.

As for PPI, if people really wanted to find out about me they will regardless of precautions. I don't bother making much of an effort to conceal myself.

Doctor, I assume. Though long-time dads are probably old enough to know about having a ****ty prostate.

I'm older than virtually all of you. 59, and a retired tv news producer/executive producer. It pains me to see how the national cable news channels have morphed into entities that seem to have an agenda. But...that's America. One day somebody figured out that's what we want to watch.

TV journalists don't go into the profession with some kind of secret agenda. Most of them just want to get their stories right. And while we say we want to watch channels that play it down the middle, the evidence indicates we don't. If we did, the seemingly neutral channels would do the best in the ratings. But they don't.

The sad truth is that there's nothing sacred about the news anymore. It's a tv show. Just like "Law and Order" is a show, and "Jeopardy" is a show, the news is a show. It's there to collect viewers and keep them tuned in. So when we whine about biased tv news coverage on either side, understand that the coverage is a reflection of the problem, just like Trump is a reflection of a greater problem. And that problem is us.

Its set up for big multi-person trial teams to sit on those long tables. The mics every couple feet get sent to the court reporters head set and a speaker system. The right side of the picture is the jury box. All those little screens are so they don’t have to roll in some giant projector like the old days. The screens and the podium and the witness box are touch screens where you can draw on the pictures and whatnot and it gets sent directly to the jury screens when the judge allows it. No more plastic overlays and easels.

But yea it would be super sweet for watching a LOL match or something.

Edit- don’t worry your money is not being wasted too much. This is like the top end of the courtroom scale. Almost no state court will have **** even close to this.

I don't really agree with this take, in that I consider most "balance" as false balance, and for 30+ years the right has exploited the journalistic desire for balance with shills and people who get paid to write, publish, and defend BS, and news is semi-dependent on presenting perspectives their viewers understand and emotionally agree with. Unfortunately, a show that digs deep on science, public policy, and the budgetary implications of actual and potential legislation stops looking like the news and isn't of interest to 99% of the population. And you would need a stable of actual experts to cover things. That said, my ideal news is pretty close to the PBS Newshour, but these days I mainly watch MSNBC because Trump is such a dumpster fire.

As far as "news is just a show", Jane's Addition was onto that in 1988, with "Ted, Just Admit It".

The T.V.'s got them images
T.V.'s got them all
It's not shocking!
Every half an hour
Someone's captured and
The cop moves them along
It's just like the show before
The news is
Just another show
With sex and violence

They've got 10 seats at each counsel table, LOL. You practically need a messenger to carry things to the judge! And the walls, I believe, are all marble.

Thing is, federal courts are generally much nicer than state courts due to state budgets, but the judiciary is pretty inexpensive all things considered. I mean $300m is "a lot" for a major court building, but it's an afterthought in the military budget, where there seems to be very limited "cost-benefit" analysis.

Cohen's father-in-law loaned $20M to cab mogul who was in FBI warrant: report
Quote:
The father-in-law of President Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, has reportedly loaned $20 million to the wife of a Chicago cab mogul who was identified in the warrant the FBI used to raid Cohen's office, hotel room and home.

The Chicago Sun Times reported Cohen's father-in-law, Fima Shusterman, has given the money in loans over the past eight months to Yasya Shtayner, whose family owns Chicago Medallion Management Corp.

Cohen owns 22 of the 368 taxicabs managed by the company, according to the Sun Times. According to the Sun Times, Shusterman gave eight loans to Shtayner.

I’m curious as to what DTH’s issue was. It sounds like he either asked the wrong questions, went to bad attorneys/ the wrong type of firm, or both. Also, it doesn’t sound like his issue was actually worth involving attorneys in if it wasn’t worth five or six hours of attorney work investigating and researching.

I’m sure a courthouse derail is a thousand times worse than a lawyer derail, but the difference between state and federal facilities is incredibly stark. Go to the Manhattan Criminal Courts building and watch them roll CRT screens around, shout at the top of their lungs, and sit at rotting tables that creek incessantly while sweating balls because there’s no AC in half the rooms.

Walk a block south to SDNY and it’s like Shangri La. Looks like that LA one, but with the more old school dark wood paneling, like a real TV courtroom. You’ll see a similar situation in like 90 percent of big cities. Houston and SF, for example, both have federal palaces within a mile of state ****holes.

It’s not just the building either, the court staff is like 100x more competent and aren’t prohibited from working past 4.
