Maybe this take is me being super edgy, but Assad has been killing scores of children by the truckload with conventional weapons for years now. I get that chemical weapons violate international norms and there's good reasons why these weapons are different, but it's still weird to me that we're just now deciding that this is a situation that needs urgent action.

PS -- Can we all just ****ing ignore HastenDan for like one day? Please?

I'm in a hotel room watching Al Jazeera. Holy crap they do not hold back on the chemical attack footage. Just unspeakable.

Having said that - do you think the 300 civilians recently killed by US bombs in Mosul feel any different than the civilians killed in this gas attack? If Assad kills the same # of kids with regular bombs it's a total non-story. But he embarrassed Daddy. Can't have that.
