I guess this was supposed to be sarcastic or whatever, but we just saw a huge grassroots movement of people calling congresscritters and crowding townhalls to stop the AHCA. It sure seems like healthcare policy is something voters get animated about.

People need to be hammered over the head 24/7 from now until November 2018 that "Republicans don't give a **** about people." And Democrats need to actually offer real solutions for working people. It's the economy, stupid, after all.

The thing about Russia is that the investigation is likely to take years, and just getting Trump or even Pence out of office doesn't solve the real long term problems. People really need to be convinced that Republicans don't give a **** about them, and AHCA is Exhibit A in that regard.

Most voters are not activists doing activities suggested by activist organizers like swamping town halls. The real sentiments of the electorate at large are not found within the activist community.

There is no evidence that his father served in any death squads. He was however, imprisoned and tortured for several years.

Or wear a pin given to your father, maybe.

He also denies pledging allegiance by the way, and there is no conclusive evidence that he ever did.

Remember two things.

1. bobman is, and I credit him for this, a principled liberal. Small-l. Not like an American liberal who votes Democratic -- instead he's someone who cherishes the liberal global order. And so Russia has to be their kryptonite because it's the last best hope to return back to the old way of doing things. That's fine, but just recognize bobman et al (I'm just using him as a stand-in for the HRC campaign, NeverTrumpers, etc.) are keenly self-interested in Russia RUSSIA RUSSIA! as the thing to talk about rather than Trump as a Gilded Age Capitalist Robber Baron because he knows the genuine progressiveness that followed the Gilded Age Era is a threat to the stuff he wants. He knows that if you're fundamentally correct that whipping up a frenzy about the preciousness of the welfare state and the way global capitalist elites operate to enrich themselves (e.g., clandestine Trump surrogates who used to be the CEO of a company that gets lots of government contract work and is managed by lots of notable Democrats meet with the Saudis and Russians to talk business) -- he knows that constitutes a threat to the world he wants. Because once that energy gets going it's a one-way ticket to Sanders town or worse, from his perspective. Which fine, I get it. I feel strongly Russia RUSSIA RUSSIA! won't work, but I might be wrong. But I'm confident it's where the kind of people who are like him are coming from -- that's their interest. It's important to identify where they're coming from.

2. his point assumes the political cluelessness of people who think Medicare eligibility is sexy but assumes voters are going to get an unfiltered hottake from the nations' opinion elites about the wholly systemic abject amorality ('mercenary kingpin') of global order. Yeah, OK, I'm sure they'll get right on that, I can see Bill O'Reilly and Chuck Schumer teaming up for that.

-Support initiatives on the state and local level
-Call your Rep. and Senators and tell them to support it
-We're gonna push this **** hard and run on it in 2018. Trump may be giving people what they want, we're going to counter by giving people what they actually NEED--education, healthcare, and a living wage.

Most voters voted for Hillary Clinton. So you may be wrong about the real sentiments of the electorate at large.

BTW I still think the Russia situation is very important! It's just not the political message the Democrats need to focus on. So I am going to continue to post about here and elsewhere. I am truly concerned about the "illiberal world order" and the damage Russia can do to us in future elections. But the Democrats's biggest problem, in 2016 especially, is that they are unwilling to take the risk of offering big, bold, solutions to people. We saw how people responded to Bernie and his message was very powerful. Those are also the kind of policies that can prevent awful demagogues from taking root in the future--people like Trump can only swoop in when the middle class is broken and falling apart.

Very true. But what is also true and what you seem to miss is the vast number of NON mentally ill people (at least Americans) who don't.

At least the trump admin has one thing right; that idea is an epic disaster. The solution to the problem is not give colleges and those cronies a blank check.

Don't be silly, though, it's all just a bunch of dog-whistling and Gorka never explicitly says "Jews are the ****ing worst" so BS can continue to be technically correct forever and ever.
