It undermines the taxi driver strike, the purpose of which is to make oppression costly.

Solidarity.

People can take slow ponies home.

ah...did not know about a taxi driver strike...I'm conflicted, though. Are Uber drivers considered taxi drivers in NY?

I pretty sure UBER doesn't give a **** and wants to make money, but turning off surge pricing may do the exact opposite of undermining the taxi strike. The people at the airport are stuck and will pay whatever. However, if they turn off surge pricing, fewer drivers will want to go there, which means more people stuck at the airport, which is what the taxi drivers wanted to accomplish.

lol now I'm really confused whether or not Uber is doing a a bad thing.

I have done plenty for MY country. It's about time the USA does what's best for the USA. Canada can take over being the worlds police and savior.

Everyone wants to feel good about themselves donating to the ACLU lol.

Look at me look at me I donated to the ACLU.

I guess Uber and other services could also be valuable bringing in more protesters. Now I'm conflicted.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that the protestors also need to get there and back somehow and having uber availalbe for that will help them as well.

Not sure what better move Uber could have made. I don't think they can ask Uber drivers to not service the airport? People should also have ways to get home.

No, but undermining the strike would essentially be acting as scabs/strikebreakers. Usually the solidarity would be with the strikers, but in this case it's really with those affected by the executive order. At any rate, if Uber swoops in to take taxi business now, they're taking advantage of the taxi drivers' attempt to resist this fascist.

May well be true - or partially true anyway. Uber drivers themselves won't be eager to fight the protest and many of them may refrain in solidarity anyway.

So I haven't been keeping up with anything all day. Can I get cliffs? Also on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most embarrassing how bad is this for Trump? How embarrassing does this look to the rest of the world?

+1 here for the "I donated to the ACLU and feel great about it" crowd. You mad, bro?

I never do this either.

Any statements from the GOP/Trump yet?

Threw on Fox to see what Trump is watching. Just a Kellyanne interview, not covering protests or this ruling.

Really, don't bother wasting time on people like this. Look through his other posts, he's like a dumb 14 year old posting from his parent's basement.

he tried to institute a muslim ban, and during the chaos that ensued he reorganized the national security council by replacing the director of national intelligence and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff with STEVE BANNON

Kind of surprised that not even CNN has broken away from their normal saturday programming to cover this. Only MSNBC seems to be covering it.
