The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Gerrymandering though. His 30% base represents like 40% of the House of Representatives. Most of the Republican House members are much more worried about a primary challenge than a challenge from the left.

What if the goal is to see how others react?

I know right? Democracy and integrity of elections are so overrated. Who needs all that high-falutin' stuff. What we really need is members of the executive branch to torpedo political candidates they don't like, right?

The context suggests they know each other.

People at state department being told to not even look at mr. tillerson and mr. tillerson needs his alone time, can't be bothered with this secretary of state work thing or things like meeting with people.

Who did trump hire that isn't the WOAT? Haley? That's probably only b/c you couldn't possibly do worse than Bolton.

Maybe not WOAT, but she sucks too.

Quote:
She cited what she called a “ridiculously biased report attacking Israel,” and criticized the Security Council for holding monthly meetings about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. (The council also discusses Yemen every month and Syria three times a month.)

...

Perhaps the most uncomfortable moment of Ms. Haley’s speech on Wednesday came when she tried to defend Mr. Trump’s travel ban. She insisted that it was not meant to exclude Muslims, but to strengthen vetting procedures for asylum seekers. At one point, she cited this month’s London terrorist attack as a justification for the travel ban. The audience murmured audibly; the London assailant was a native-born Briton.

Here's the thing. Even if Haley were reasonable (she's really not that reasonable) as a prime member of the Trump administration she's not allowed to have her own opinions. Her opinions belong to Viacom/Comcast/TimeWarner/Pfeizer. And Steve Bannon. That's how it works with a God-Emperor.

When I checked wiki for which Americans had been prosecuted for treason, all but one of the cases were people cooperating with nations we were at war with or people waging armed insurrection. The one exception was not cooperating with a country we don't like very much.

Over/under on the number of people Trump takes down along the way? He's the absolute worst influence on those around him.

And I wasn't really thinking about just legal troubles when I wrote that post. Forget about the seemingly bad actors like Manafort, Flynn, Stone, etc., but just think of all the people who are in way over their heads trying to untwist Trump's knots; those in the House or Senate or WH. Lots of careers and reputations at stake here too.

Uh, this has probably been asked before, but should Trump step down, does Pence pick a new cabinet or does he keep the old one?

Edit: Just googled how Ford did it, and he kept most of them.

The cabinet sits at the pleasure of the president. So I suspect he would keep some and get rid of others. I would think Tillerson would be replaced by an experienced diplomat and several other changes would be made to beef up the state department. Of course, non-cabinet people like Bannon, Kushner, Stephen Miller and Ivanka would be gone. I suspect Priebus and Spicer could stay.

This Russia saga reminds me of the opening monologue to layer cake when Daniel Craig says - "only the very stupid think the police are stupid'.

I wonder if at any point they thought - hang on a second lads, is this a bad idea?

Maybe the stories end the same way - Jared knives Don on the white house steps after he finds out Don has been banging Ivanka.

Cue Ordinary World by Duran Duran.

No. No competent prosecutor ever gives somebody immunity until they know what they are getting first.
