The map of where Republican congressmen in CA come from is amusing - there are very few places in red there that you'd actually want to live. It is funny that most people in this thread are commenting on something they no little about. There are large portions of Alaska's population that don't have a grocery store around the corner. So they are required to either hunt or fish for their meal or starve.

The rules never applied to subsistence hunting.

First Nations are Canadian, but OK, yes, there are also probably various hermits and survivalists who live off the land.

The vast majority of hunting is a leisure time activity, and it's not a cheap one.
