I mean, when are they going to get a win, of any kind...

Also, scuttlebutt has it that GOP won't have 50 votes to go nuclear over Gorsuch. It's a long game.
Baseball is too American for Trump. He will throw out the first puck in the Stanley Cup Finals.

This is true for a segment of the population, but Fox seems to be struggling under Trump. It's always easier to be a critic than a creator, and they've had the advantage of being "grievance news" for 8 years when the GOP didn't have to take responsibility for governing.

Yea, exactly. The GOP for 8 years was all about blaming the democrats for their problems. Kinda hard to do that when you control the House, Senate, and WH.

But they haven't gone full stormfront yet. Carlson seems to be dipping his toe in those waters. What will Fox do if his ratings start sky-rocketing?

At this moment I realized that something was very wrong. How could the news be blowing up the Trayvon Martin case while hundreds of these black on White murders got ignored?
How many conservatives would be completely receptive to bombardment with salacious black on white crime, even though they don't quite have the gumption to google "black on white" crime and wander over to the CCC site? I mean that's a racist hate site. But Tucker Carlson is mainstream media. Lots of people watch Tucker Carlson. This must be normal.

And of course you have my Mom - who went out of her way to raise me to be tolerant of other races, purposely exposed me to challenging situations where we were the only white people around, befriended a black woman she met through a prison outreach program and basically made her part of the family for decade when she got out, worked for 25-years as an immigration lawyer trying to get people from 3rd-world hell-holes in to the US, etc. - posting **** like this on FB:

There is no defense against this stuff in the conservative hive-mind. There's no reasoning with it. You're trying to argue with the amygdala and you will lose every time. Just try having a mock argument in your mind - vs. a conservative who's keyed-up about the rape of a 14-year-old by an illegal immigrant. Let me know what you come up with. I'm talking to my Mom tonight. I've tried to figure out how to address this and I've got nothing.

I guarantee you FoxNews and even Breitbart know this. But that temptation--for ratings or to distract from terrible news for Republicans--has to always be there. They're always walking that fine line. "How dark should we make the hand reaching out for entitlements?" had to be an involved conversation. "No that's a little too dark, it needs to be vague enough for plausible deniability. But dark enough to be scary."

It's like how Tony Bourdain says BBQ shows always do double the ratings. Gotta be tempting to just go full BBQ and see what happens.

He's probably going to blow the first whistle at the WC2018 in #PUTINSRUSSIA.

Another advantage I'm seeing for the Dems: not being overshadowed by Obama and the old guard in the House and Senate, not to mention Hillary and Bernie, is allowing more of their bench to play a key role, like Reps. Swalwell, Liu, Kennedy, and Mr. Macky.

I'm seeing some dem reps for the first time and thinking, "these guys/gals guy are fairly impressive."

I'm not impressed by Newsome or the Castro brothers from TX (too smiley), but some of these reps could go far.

With all the past and current lawsuits against Trump it's fair to say his lawyer is the best multitasker ever.

Think Bret's success relative to the other two is more easily explained by logistics than anything else. Bret's show occupies that sweet timeslot between the end of the daily Early Bird Special and bedtime for FNC's core audience, so they're back home from the Prime Rib & Salad Bar when it's on but it's not quite bedtime (7 PM) yet.

Baier is a big-time fear-mongerer. Not straight news.

WH stated publicly that it does not object to Yates testifying before the committee

Devin Nunes cancels the hearing

Now this surfaces

NM should get at least one more source maybe more

Cute. And Spicer just said, "I hope she testifies" at the WH press briefing.

Yeah, spicey is flailing in the wind as usual in this administration. lol spicey. hope the gravy train is worth being the fall guy every time.

TIL the stuff I've been mixing up to produce a tasty dip in which to dunk steamed shrimp is actually called "Russian dressing"

Another way to look at this is that Fox dominates during normal business hours (or at least when most people are at work) and MSNBC takes the lead during the times when most people are free to watch tv. Which is something you'd expect when the majority of the fox audience is >65.

I've been thinking about all these weird actions taken by Nunes & the White House lately, and it seems they started right after the Comey hearing. It's fairly obvious Trump and co. have been scrambling since.

One thing I'm wondering though: Is it possible Flynn just got picked up 9 or 10 days ago (before Monday, when Comey told the WH and the public about the investigation), and THAT is what Nunes found out at the WH during his Tuesday night excursion?

Also, even if this one trick to removing a horrible president works, the Russia stuff isn't really applicable to the rest of the Republican Party.

Basically, the issue is that the Dems have a lot of internal problems to fix if they don't want to repeat 2016, and focusing on Russia seems like a way for the establishment slappies to avoid tacking these problems.
Is this not purely a fault of rubbish Dems tho.

Surely you can pursue Russia full power and at the same time match Trumps tweeting output?

This is what gave rise to "right wing media" popularity under Bill Clinton. Rush Limbaugh made his bones criticizing Clinton. Fox News took hold.

We see this streak of criticism and opposition throughout the entire republican sector these days. Problem is it's a horrible foundation for governing and if we look at the two republican presidents since this really took root they both have pretty much abdicated their entire whitehouse to another person who was never elected president.
