If Trump is trying to get rid of Ryan and fails, he pisses off a guy who can stomp on the impeachment accelerator and end up president. If he succeeds, what does he gain? Revenge? Ok, that makes sense in Trump world i guess.

There's 60 right there. There's even more that could push him over per Politico.
And here's the thing. You'll have some vote for cloture and then vote against for the actual vote. I bet he wins cloture 61-39 and wins the actual vote 55-45 or something like that.
Fwiw predict has odds of yes vote by 4/30 (so there is deadline in play) at:
Heitkamp 59%
McCaskill 19%
Donnelly 58%
Tester 62%
King 61%

Bannon has been strategically targeting Ryan for awhile now. He's the "globalist enemy" of Trump's big core fan base over at Breitbart.
it would be funny if the freedom caucus threatens to default on the national debt or shut down the government, only because that's trump's signature move and he'll be pissed he can't threaten it himself.

I don't see the problem with trump golfing so much. He's showing quite clearly that he has the stamina and is willing to put in the work to make sure all parties involved (other than him) are adequately blamed for his AHCA failure.

He was also very willing to put in the work to push a horrible bill for the American people without actually learning the specifics of it, and then saying it was probably best that the bill didn't pass lol.
