It's not all or nothing. Women getting 5 months more paid leave than men is not necessarily relegating women to the roles of uncompensated care providers.

There's a report that an illegal immigrant allegedly sexually assaulted a 2-year-old and also did other horrific things.

I call absolute bs when I see it. This didn't happen. The cops are framing him.

well idk i wouldn't just say it didn't happen, it's a big country savage **** happens all over. if you've got a full time job with the government to specifically look for immigrant crimes, you'll find some

fox news doesn't report fake news, they specifically report and talk about news that promotes conservatives and denigrates liberals, and they try to spin the rest to a conservative angle because they want to flatter their audience

Biologically they carry the child for 9 months, men do not.

Hope that helps.

You don't understand. We're living in 1984. Trump is establishing a police state. The U.S. already was a police state to a certain extent. "99.9% of police shootings are justified". Who believes that crap???

And why are all these big things happening right now?

Certainly it could be possible it's true, but you literally can't trust news anymore. And that's what Trump wants in a way. ****ed up.

Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark all have family leave, but extra for the mother.

It's just inconvenient for families when only one parent can't put their career on hold to take care of their child, and so the other parent always has to do that. It creates a family decision whicy may cost the family money and opportunities down the line. Which of course affects the child as well.

But yeah, it should be applicable for an ailing parent as well. Family leave sounds fair.

I mean, is it that hard to understand that a woman's body needs to recover some from giving birth, and that she needs a few months to. you know, care for the baby in a way that only a mother can?

I'm in favor of equal leave, but not for that reason.

If the above is one's actual goal, you can't just have equal leave, you have to actually somehow force/induce it to be taken equally. Apparently, some countries do this (I think).
The Nordic countries do that. If the husband doesn't take a certain amount of leave both loose an extra amount of parental leave.

In Norway it's framed as a baby's right to care. The baby had a right for the mom to care for the baby for something like 2 years and then have, at least, day care until they're ready to start school.

The scandi countries do something like mothers get x weeks before the birth and both fathers and mothers get something like y weeks/months after the birth.

I don't see how this really amounts to what you said.

In Canada it's a year which can be split however the parents want except the woman must take at least 6 weeks.

It's not just who dies but how they die. Getting run over, falling from a ladder, committing suicide, drug overdose etc may get a mention in local media but that's it (unless someone famous was involved). On the other hand, any terrorist event gets blanket National coverage for days, exactly how the terrorists want it.

I have big respect for the BBC but they have lost the plot with this London event. You'd expect crap from the Daily Mail but not the BBC.

Out of curiosity, is it specified that those 6 weeks must be immediately after delivery?
