Perhaps, but the SJW position du jour, is that giving women more is actually sexist against women, because when the women have the kids, they're the ones who get the leave, thus they're the parent that's expected to take it. This means that they miss work and their careers advance more slowly because of it. Or something like that. You would probably get a better explanation from a true believer.

I'm in favor of equal leave, but not for that reason.

If the above is one's actual goal, you can't just have equal leave, you have to actually somehow force/induce it to be taken equally. Apparently, some countries do this (I think).

Fwiw, I'm not old fashioned like women take care of babies and men don't. I worked from home and like 1/2 time for like 5 years after our second kid was born and our first was 2 1/2. I did lots of child care.

You can't legislate biological equivalence, so unless you force men to take family leave that won't change anything. You legislate against discrimination and imho pay for leave should be public and not from the employer which would greatly reduce that disincentive.

Next election is still over a year and a half from now, people aren't gonna remember this by then especially after we get into a stupid war with someone or nukes start flying.
