He made the Kentucky speech on the same day that Comey said there was no wiretapping by president Obama. During the speech he said that every illegal immigrant should be deported, Obamacare has to be replaced right now, we've not been on a roll like this since 1928 etc. Very radical speech that freaked out everyone even on Fox News.

He keeps saying "fake media". Hitler said "Lugenpresse".

Yeah except about the part where trump ran on providing better coverage. And the fact congress passed SIX repeal bills while Obama president but none with trump is lol.

As dumb as a large number of trump supporters are they are not all going to be accepting of this and they didn't have a big margin to start with.

Some think they will move on to tax cuts but one of the ways they were going to pay for those tax cuts for the ultra rich was cutting the costs of healthcare.

Trump and the republicans have tried to do a lot but I don't know if a party with both houses and the president have accomplished less in two months. The Muslim ban keeps getting kicked back. They can't get a vote on repealing or repealing and replacing. It seems like all he has done is start the bidding process on a stupid wall cut some EPA regulations. It has been an abject failure. ( not to mention he is under suspicion and investigation which republicans in congress tried to obstruct).

This was a huge loss for two segments that needed even a window dressing win at this point. Even if they vote tomorrow it has been a cluster.)

He is part of the 37%. So he may not see the forest through the trees.

lol I sometimes miss the poker references thanks for this

This has probably been brought up before but I just heard on the radio talk about how Gorsuch came to the attention of the Trump Administration because he was the only one out of seven judges who thought that a truck driver is required to wait by his truck for hours and freeze to death when it is 27 degrees below zero in order to protect the precious cargo.

Fair enough. I guess it would be more accurate to say "If 37% Trump were to do that, I don't see it working out very well for him."

The crazy thing about the ACA is that what people don't like about it -- is that it is too expensive. They want cheaper healthcare. So they elect the Republicans who are going to defund it and give the billionaires back their hard earned interest $$$.

If the general population is this stupid, there is no hope.
03-23-2017 , 08:54 PM
I just have to say it brings me great, great joy to see the Republicans failing so hard right now when they control all three branches of government. That is all.

Interesting I had no idea that a specific ruling was behind his selection. If true I take back my earlier assertion that Gorsuck was there because Heritage and Koch put him there

I did particularly enjoy one of his rulings getting the 8-0 smackdown treatment during the hearing yesterday
03-23-2017 , 08:56 PM
I thought Gorsuch was just one of the names on the list that Heritage Fdn came up with. Bizarrely, it doesn't surprise me at all that Trump wanted him because of the frozen trucker case. That's just how Trump rolls.

I think the opposite. I think Trump is very stupid and thinks everyone can be rich like him. He just blames people not being rich because of taxes, brown people, and government in general. That's why he wants to "fix" this. He's oblivious to the fact that the only reason he is rich is because he was born with a golden spoon up his ass.

The other problem is Trump is also a huge narcissist. He can't learn from mistakes and refuses to do so. In addition, he surrounds himself with people that tell him what he wants to hear rather than people that are qualified to the job. He ran his businesses that way and it's how he's running the presidency.

The easiest way to get Trump to do what you want him to do is to gain his trust and manipulate him in a way that makes him look good.

Yes. There are a lot of possibilities. I don't think we should exclude any of them at this point. He could be crazy, liar, stupid, smart, Hitler, Mussolini. All of those are possible and not mutually exclusive.

We should not call people names. That only makes the problem worse. And in a way we should not call Trump names, cos that makes his supporters angry and they take it personally.

he isn't just rich b/c he has a golden spoon. People like trump always get rich* because they screw everyone and people fold to them.

*sample size issue here but all the ones like him I've ever met are loaded

LOL. This has to be based on his approval ratings right? He thinks if the bill passes, his ratings will go up. Therefore, the ultimatum.
03-23-2017 , 09:10 PM
Ah the predicted schism between Team Trump and Team GOP has arrived sooner than expected.

Now the right will choose Trump over GOP and it's another step towards an autocracy.

Yea sure. Like how he doesn't pay bills, and when he gets sued, he settles for pennies on the dollar. Easy way to get 50% off a bill w/o doing a f'ing thing.

Even if it passes the house, seems DOA in the senate regardless, no?

There the margin for error is much slimmer and the moderate/conservative divide is much greater.

If it passes the house, chances are it doesn't pass the Senate in exactly the same form. They'll make some changes in the Senate and send it back to the House where they'll have to vote on it again. That's typical for any legislation originating in the House.

oh no way, i think enough people realized they can't repeal and replace with anything better, and this is trump shifting the blame for this mega failure onto the congress
