The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

The GOP plan is to make it ****ty enough to attract enough Freedom Caucus support to get out of the House. I don't think they have any idea what to do after that.

What does the Freedom Caucus do? There's so much **** to keep track of.

Also, can this pass w/ every Dem voting no?

Notice how by doing this first they get it out of the way 18 months before the election. They can turn to their other stuff that might pass, like tax changes, and they won't be facing a pissed off electorate in 2018. Holding onto seats is the most important thing to the GOP.

remember Obamacare passed less than 8 months before election day and 2010 was bad for Dems.

Another reminder that conservatives have no values, only allegiances. They thought they were the ingroup.

It would be a terrible idea to put a non-lawyer on the SCOTUS. Like, worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

Here's a helpful quiz to check if you're in the 'in group':

1. Did you pay the $200,000 initiation fee, and spend every weekend at Mar-a-Lago?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No

2. Are you a friend of Vladimir Putin?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No

I haven't looked at all the individuals' complete careers but this is a list of 40 people who served on SCOTUS who were never judges prior to their appointments

http://supreme.findlaw.com/supreme_c...opriorexp.html

Some people on that list you've definitely heard of.

Robert Jackson (Nuremberg prosecutor) was the last SCOTUS justice who did not have a law degree. ETA Renquist was the last one not to have previously served as a judge.

Different now with decades more case law (and expansion in court system, etc.). Also, very different thing between not being an attorney and not being a judge. I have no issue with someone with no judicial experience (it wouldn't be my preference, but there can be exceptions) being appointed.
