I bet the bill will only get worse if they work on it more
The problem the GOP has is they have two opposite sides on the healthcare bill who likely will never compromise enough to get anything legitimate through. Especially since it has become clear since the election that people who voted republican actually want better AND more affordable healthcare.
Delaying it can hold out hope it keeps getting pushed back into other major changes take place. Not being able to pass a healthcare bill after it being their main cry for 8 plus years while holding both congress and the presidency will taint them.
If a worse bill does pass delaying that reality just delays it which is something. Any kind of bill that tries to appease the fiscal conservatives and those who think this replacement is too good for people is pretty much a guaranteed failure upon arrival. They tried to rush into this and they are going to have to own it.
The two opposing republican sides are those who want more people with better coverage vs those who want less people with less coverage. Those are their positions based on the current bill. So it's hard to see where an actual compromise shows up in there. But who knows. We are in unprecedented times.
