This is a bad argument against the orange nazi.
It's not all constructed, and of course he could force them. Who cares if it Id already purchased.
By that standard any company who has purchased steel from other places can use it until it is all gone. It's silly rhetoric not legitimate policy.
Wait until companies get waivers from trump because US steel is too expensive for a particular project.
I realize the steel is already there but this is about making America great again. It's not always going to be painless. Do you think Trump won't grant exceptions to other builders down the road? It's pretty much a guarantee.
My point is the policy is bs used to fuel the emotions of trump supporters and not something they actually care about implementing.
As for this pipeline they had reached a point where they might not be able to finish it at all. So having to acquire American steel and selling off the Russian/American steel seems like a small price to pay to MAGA.
The problem is foreign trade is much more complicated then writing an executive order saying USA.
Other than cost why should they not be required to use US steel? It's going to create jobs and out money in the pockets of American companies, allegedly. Seems like the perfect opportunity to say, "We really are serious about this." Of course better to set the table in the kickback for waivers scheme that inevitably will evolve.
I might be more concerned if I dicing view the whole idea as bs.
