Lots of talk about how if Republicans have their way with gerrymandering and other ****ery, Dems will never win. Have we just given up on trying to change these peoples minds? Like some family is just going to vote repub from no until infinity? Shouldn't part of the "resistance" not only pressuring elected officials but attempting to bring trumpers over to the other side? Wouldn't this be a good time of an actual third party to start? Isn't that how it works in history?

So far the Republicans allowed Trump to happen, and the Dems allowed Hillary to happen and have so far, besides some tough questioning in senate hearings, been relatively soft. While the GOP has been scaring me for sometime and now Trump is scarying the **** out of me, I'm not super happy to be jumping on the Dem train either. They are both scummy.

Long game would be a third party or actual independents who are able to disrupt at the state and federal level.

Has anyone thought about actually moving in order to influence elections or run for office in a leaning GOP state? We have four years, if a million of those Dem votes in California move to concentrated areas in swing states.

It's very hard to change people's minds. I mean ****, my sister in law has a son that is handicapped and she voted for Trump and loves the guy. The delusion is strong with his base.

Need to make the "never Hillary" crowd change their mind now that she is gone. I don't know if that is possible. The fact staffers already used private emails is nothing to them.

3rd party? You gotta get em on the debate stage first. Being on the ticket isn't good enough. So who controls that?

My wife & I plus our two closest (married friends) have pledged to collectively register 100 new voters in Philadelphia and get them to vote in the midterms. Philly is very close to us and the only red state around us. None of us have any major experience as causeheads but in this environment the passive approach just doesn't seem to do it. The challenge is how best to do it without being dicks, or knocking on doors like Jehovah Witnesses.

Trying to sway dug-in red area voters isn't as great use our time I don't think, at least not when there are so many eligible non-voters to work with first. We just need to make them know that they actually do matter and have reason to get off the sidelines. Registering and voting is really not a BFD.

I don't know how we're going to do it, but we're all personable, have cars and professional backgrounds with a good range of experience with people. Beats carrying a stupid sign protesting people who aren't affected by protests.

I really wonder how far Trump is willing to take his narcissistic voter "fraud" claims given Paul Ryan, Lindsey Graham, and Jason Chaffetz have spoken against it and all denied any evidence existing. Chaffetz said he will not hold a congressional investigation into it but that Trump can use the DOJ if he cares to pursue it.

Probably wait a couple of months before you start canvasing your neighbourhood. Wait till when his policies really start to affect the average Americans, then you have something you can use to pin on Trump.

I have a good friend who is a citizen now but originally was a Muslim from Iran. He has some family here but a lot of family in Iran. They often came to visit here. Guess that is over with. He can't go back there because Iran would never let him leave. He never did his mandatory military service because he was like 8 when he left and now is a doctor.

So he voted for Trump.

Seriously. Donald Trump.

I wish we could have successfully made the case that lower taxes and allegedly "fixing" the ACA is not a good trade off for the end of the USA. I know several people who voted like that

Sunday Jan 22nd 2017: Trump schedules a meeting with PM of Canada, announces plans to meet with President of Mexico, announces intentions to begin negotiations with NAFTA

Followed by a week (ok, he did it in only 3 days) of putting into action nearly every campaign promise

Worst politician ever! Fortunately that's a good thing

Love him or hate him, and I truly understand why people could hate him mistankingly, but at least his word is his word unlike any other politician that's ever existed
