The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

He's just trying to avoid saying "I didn't know." It's basically "this information was handed to me" defense.

Well then I guess they'll just have to gut a few more small programs that help actual Americans.

BTW, there's been something like 40/600 nominations for senate confirmed positions so far. Trump doesn't know what these jobs do and, being little more than a small businessman, doesn't know who can fill them. That's fine, however, because the Extremist wackos for Jesus Foundation has a list of "qualified" candidates. This is why you zealously vote for Clinton even if she strangled Bernie's puppy with her bare hands.

I'm giving this one to the BBC.
They're both right.

Adam Schiff (also on the House Intelligence Committee with Nunes) says they haven't called on a single witness or reviewed a single document regarding collusion between Trump and Russia. That might explain why Nunes was able to say he hasn't seen any evidence of collusion. He conveniently left that part out.

Great post. By golly I think he's got it!

American's Great Right Hope, John McCain, wants even MORE than Trump for defense

Being 10 times bigger than the next biggest military leaves us underfunded and undersized?

lol

A 9% increase to the largest military budget(*) in the world as "a first step". Nice.

(*) currently almost 3 times as much as Russia and China combined

10x is an exaggeration (depending on what you are referring to).

So yeah that appears to be the plan. They're gonna get rid of Obamacare and cut services across the board to pay for a drastic increase in military spending and a mass deportation force. And a bunch of tax cuts for the 0.1%.

I really wonder if all these people that claim our military is "underfunded and unprepared" actually believe their bull****, or just know they're lying to satisfy the interests they serve.

You're right, it's that the US outspends the next 7 countries on the list (used to be 10 or 11).

I didn't realize China was spending as much as they were on defense, and I think at one point in the past few years the US was spending about 10 times as much as Russia but we're down to "only" spending ~3 times what China spends.

Even if it does plunge below 30 the Republicans need him to push their agenda - the ones they want to get through especially are gutting Obamacare and the precious tax cuts for the rich. Once they get those through, I think Trumps position becomes a lot more tenuous. The only thing that may change that is a hefty smoking cannon implicating Trump with Putin, which I guess is reasonably likely.
If his approval ratings go below 30/20 is there any way the GOP can hold the House? Surely not.

Trump supporters are not likely to run to the Democratic Party if their boy is shot down. Regardless of whether Trump is impeached or beaten in a Republican primary, I think the bigger fear for the GOP is to have to deal with a Trump independent run for the White House in 2020.
If there are still elections in 2020 then I think everyone will take that as a win.

Uh, you expect Republicans in Congress to vote against that? Is that because you think Republicans care about deficits?

I wish I knew what to short ahead of the inevitable trump tweet about maybe not making our debt payments.

That guy was the ****. If we're headed for a post-Trump apocalyptic hellscape, I am definitely investing literally whatever remaining durable wealth I have left in that Doof Warrior flamethrowing guitar.
