he does the "cup check" maneuver as a social dominance play in the white house

If I ever write a book about American politics it's going to be titled "No War But The Civil War", because seriously if the ****ing libs are thinking they are going to By Your Logic the GOP on turning their backs on Goldwater's principled states' rights federalism...

Have you literally been living in a ****ing wildlife preserve? Just out of a coma?

Haha TRUMPS EPA guy is a corrupt asshat. Shocking. Also stories of a bunch of staffers shown the door because they can't pass criminal backgrounds. Well-oiled machine all day.

We saw it in microcosm in literally every Ron Paul thread, including from our boy Tsao here. Once these people get their emotional attachment locked on, well, good luck.
The structural problem here is that even if Trump has a stroke or gets impeached, all of these phenomenally gullible people will reset back to being easy marks for the next scam artist. All we can hope for is that the next huckster is just a small-time stunt candidate like Ron Paul or Ben Carson, because any other wealthy reality TV star can easily duplicate Trump's formula, and the next one isn't going to shot himself in the foot as often as Trump did.

If you think they’re going to give you your country back without a fight, you are sadly mistaken,” Bannon said in reference to the media and opposition forces. “Every day, it is going to be a fight.”
That's not terrifying or anything.

When Milo was talking about the older male that helped him discover himself did he mean Bannon? Everything becoming so clear now.

I genuinely think trump is "hitler" in that he is a once every 50-70 years type of fascist figure. The perfect storm that was in place for trump to be elected is very unlikely to be in place for the next rwnj that's rich. Like, Peter Thiel can't be trump. Zuckerberg, Cuban etc aren't corrupt simpletons. You just can't mimic trump like you can't mimic Stalin or hitler. There will eventually be something comparable, but it probably won't be for a very long time.

Trump is his own unique individual, but I'm not a big fan of the great man theory of history. For some awful reason a large number of Americans (and people in other countries) are wanting some authoritarian boot to lick. Hopefully that changes in four years without the horrors that usually convince people that authoritarians suck.

I brought this up ITT earlier about authoritarians and someone mentioned that most Americans are terrified of true freedom. I'm starting to agree with that.

It's unbelievable how so much of this stuff is completely unnecessary or actually hurts the economy. Repealing the ACA. Building the wall. Cracking down on immigrants. Travel ban. Now pot.

Speaking of pot, I really hope they crack down on it in CO, WA and OR. When I was in CO last summer I bought some weed at a place that was maybe 10 miles from the Kansas state line. There must have been 10-20 cars in the parking lot and the thing that caught my eye was how many were from out of state. It would be ****ing hilarious to see deep red states turn blue because of pot.

I want to believe there will be consequences for this FBI thing but more and more it seems like a benefit of being a corrupt lying scumbag is that you get away with a ton of **** just because no one knows quite where to focus. And whose job is it to enforce consequences here, DOJ? Lol. Congress? Double lol.

Yeah, I don't think it is easy to duplicate Trump. I don't pretend to know what it is about him that makes people convinced that he supports their beliefs even though he manifestly doesn't. Maybe it's just the trappings of wealth or whatever, but I tend to think he really is a highly skilled con man. Since nobody here has any clue about the black arts of hucksterism, there's a tendency to be a bit Dunning-Krueger on the subject, just denying that it is hard to do. It's like those people who don't get hip hop at all and are like "Anyone can stand on stage and say words fast!". Yeah, no. Not everyone can be Eminem.

This is not to say either that Trump is some once in a generation protege of hucksterism, but like you said, it's a perfect storm. The idea that you can throw any rich blowhard up there to do the same thing is off the mark imo.

read a few articles comments on Breitbart, and the brainwashed Trumpers are back to attacking the GOP hard.

Seems like a good sign that theres so much infighting on the right.

I really wonder what made them tick so much to think Trump somehow cannot be a liar and crooked like the rest of the GOP? Like suddenly this guy is immune to criticism and will do everything right, unlike everyone before him in politics. Go figure.

I guess they're just that desperate to believe. SAD!
02-24-2017 , 01:01 AM
The infighting on the right won't be a good thing if it only leads to more white nationalists winning congressional primaries in 2018 and 2020.
02-24-2017 , 01:05 AM
how does that work?

All the people fighting voted Trump, some of them will be pushed to the left alternative. And both sides of the infighting will probably bleed votes.

Meanwhile, nobody who voted democrat in 2014 will vote republican in 2018

In theory, of course...
