True, I mean I'll even admit I don't often stay on top of changes in tax law and try to be proactive with preparing for them or anything. Like aside from obvious stuff like knowing the year my oldest turned 18 meant a child tax credit falling off the books, I'd basically just run the numbers through TurboTax in February and go "uh okay I owed/got back $400 more than last year because reasons" and maybe change my withholding to keep it closer to even for the next year.
I'd like to think if the difference is jarring enough, it would raise some warning bells, but who the **** knows. They'd probably find a way to blame the newly sworn-in House, or their state government stealing from them, or whatever.
